Bought this expecting the usual “old EA game on modern Windows” disaster after reading the reviews. Instead, it just… worked. Installed normally. Launched normally. No mods. No unofficial patches. No ritual sacrifice to the PC gods. The only issue I had was the game running at 40–55 FPS at first. Turns out Windows had decided to run it on the integrated GPU instead of the NVIDIA GPU. I forced BurnoutPR.exe to use the high-performance GPU and that immediately fixed it. Since then: smooth, stable, and exactly what I wanted. And honestly, the game still holds up. Fast arcade racing, ridiculous crashes, great sense of speed, and zero interest in pretending to be a realistic driving simulator. A lot of the negative reviews seem to come from people who genuinely can’t get the game running, so I’m not saying those problems aren’t real. But on my setup, Burnout Paradise Remastered works perfectly without mods or extra fixes. For a few bucks on sale, this was an easy win. TL;DR: Game works. Burnout is still fun. If your FPS is weird on a laptop, make sure Windows isn’t using the wrong GPU.
This was one of my favorite games every when I was a kid playing after school on my Xbox 360. The driving, smashing, and crashing was unlike any other game at the time. Now almost 20 years later I now have it on my PC. This game is still the ♥♥♥♥ and I hope anyone who likes racing games will give this 2008 classic a chance! Its definitely dated, but man is it so much fun!
It's a cool game, but the developers and publisher didn't take care of it, the game constantly crashes, for some people it simply doesn't launch, to fix this you will need to look for guides on the Internet, then you can play it without crashes: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2260785713, a link to the guide that helped me
Leaving a review mainly for steam deck compatibility. I just bought the remastered version on sale today and was able to get it running on steam deck without any extra steps. Just download and go. Game runs great on the deck. Please note that my steam account was already linked to my ea account prior to launching the game. I already had the ultimate box edition. I got the remastered version for surf island which I'm happy to try out for the first time. I couldn't really see that much of a graphical difference between the versions though. This is still one of the best racing games I've ever played. It's a little lacking in terms of QoL compared to modern racing games, but it more than makes up for it with the truly unique gameplay. The soundtrack is just perfect too.
Amazing game, absolutely ruined by the EA App. If I could actually launch and play it consistently, this would be an easy recommendation. Instead, I’m stuck troubleshooting a launcher more than playing the game. Unplayable on both PC and Steam Deck. Negative review until this gets fixed. -------------------------------- EDIT ------------------------------------- VALVE… you’re like Superman, defeating the Joker with Proton. You have no idea how much it meant to me to launch the game, then relaunch it the next day with no issues. It finally feels like I can actually play consistently. Seriously, Valve you’re awesome. This is exactly why I switched completely to Steam this year (sold my PlayStations and Nintendo) and bought a Steam Deck and plan on a Steam Machine. If something breaks, I know you at least tried and honestly, that’s what matters most. I used to play this game on my old PS3, and now I get to play it on both my PC and my Steam Deck… so thank you. As for EA, your launcher still needs serious work. Please fix it, and think about a sequel to this one again eh?
