Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions is a game that really stood out to me because of the connection I already had with the series. I grew up watching the show with my dad who introduced me to, so getting a game based on it felt really special. The gameplay is fast, flashy, and over-the-top in a way that perfectly matches the anime style. It’s not a traditional football game, but that’s exactly what makes it fun. Every match feels more like an action scene than a realistic sports sim. What makes it even better is how it captures the spirit of Captain Tsubasa. The special shots, dramatic moments, and exaggerated plays all feel like they came straight out of the show. It really brings back that childhood excitement. Playing it also felt a bit nostalgic for me. Seeing characters and moments from something I watched growing up made the experience more enjoyable than I expected. i played this game for 100 hours on a computer, and 60 hours on my nintendo switch, from all the games i played on the franchise, i netiher can't call this game the best, or the worst game in the franchise, somehow i couldn't have find any bugs in this game.. (i guess i'm pretty lucky) but the game has many things that... don't make the game good first thing is that goalkeepers are useless.. they can't really do anything, they're only meant to defend the goal (AND YOU CAN'T CONTROL THEIR DEFENSE??), i'm glad bandai namco decided to make goalkeepers more useful and challenging in their next planned game of Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters The developers mostly cared about the animations and the lookies, but not about the game itself, the dribble system is alright, but you can see the game lacks of many things. Free kicks/goal kicks S U C K, you can't make any special shots, it's hard to make any long shots, and all you can do is to make a short pass, to make it at least possible to still be in posession of the ball. the storyline is decent, but the new hero storyline is..... eh, they didn't really cared about quality but just.. possibility of expanding the story with basic interactions, luckily there are many ways to make the game somewhat interesting, although it could be better. i certainly believe that the developers could make the game much more better, although they didn't make the worst job, the game would be a moderate success in my opinion, the game got me into it deeply, i got every single ending on each route (nintendo switch), and will tend to repeat it, it's repetitive, but i enjoy it anyway. DLCS aren't cash grabs imo, unless you want to pay the full price... then i don't think it's that worth it, although i'm sure it makes the game a little more interesting.. but i hope the dlcs will be much better in the next game made by the same studio. In summary i believe if someone really loves Captain Tsubasa, this is one of the games that you will enjoy, but i'd recommend waiting for sales ;) Gameplay: 7.2/10 Graphics: 10/10 Animations: MAJESTIC/10 Storyline: 8/10 Soundtracks: 8.5/10 Overall: 8.9/10
