+ when on sale, a good bargain and one of the cheaper 3d anime action games on Steam + includes prequel God Eater Resurrection + good enough anime story that got me interested to finish the games + can customize your character's looks with cool outfits + on most missions you can have 3 other AI npc with you + bullet editor lets you cheese if things get too tough + easy to run on low end - very repetitive. Most missions are on the same few maps with same-ish enemies (God Eater 2 has more variety tho) - controls took some getting used to - zero exploration - unexpected difficulty spikes that almost made me rage quit and forced me to git gud / cheese
God Eater 2: Rage Burst is a better game than the first one, but not by much, in my opinion. It’s still an easy pick-up-and-play game and doesn’t change all that much from its predecessor. If you didn’t like the first game, I don’t think this one will change your mind either.
God Eater 2 Rage Burst I bought God Eater 2: Rage Burst and it bundled in God Eater Resurrection. Visually it looks very similar to GER, just with a few more visual effects. Still got the bullet customisation system which is great but had an annoying bug where even moving mouse slightly in the bullet editor would crash the game. One of the biggest gameplay changes is the removal of GER’s Predator Style, replaced with Blood Powers. Blood Powers are a cool mechanic but it took me a little bit to get used to them since I had already adapted to Predator Style. GE2RB has a lot more missions compared to GER and many of them are pretty long. There are also a lot more Survival Missions, which I personally didn't like. The regular story missions are manageable and not too long in length, but there are still some chapters that include chained or Survival Missions that can feel repetitive with regards to progression. Another area where I think GE2RB is lacking when compared to GER is the voice acting. A lot of the voice lines that aren't part of the main story or companion missions just don't fit or seem out of place. Thankfully, the voice acting in the story and companion missions is well done, so the most important scenes still give a solid experience. God Eater Resurrection has less content overall than God Eater 2: Rage Burst, but the longer missions, more Survival Missions and inconsistent voice acting made it a less enjoyable experience for me even with the new gameplay mechanics. God Eater Resurrection First of all, GER has the coolest OST among other God Eater series. It's hard to skip like I did in GE2RB and GE3. The game doesn't have good graphics by today's standards, but the smoothness of the FPS does it justice. The gameplay and story progression are easy and fast for someone who just wants to experience the storyline. Pick on the story mission and watch the cutscene unfold. Unlike open-world games, where I need to run around the maps. GER has the cool feature that allows players to customize bullets. Build OP bullets and breeze through the hard mission. A stock bullet is enough for story missions. The last good thing about GER is... of course, boobies. It was a distraction when I just wanted to focus on the cutscene, you know. The bad thing is the difficulty scaling is inconsistent. I fought multiple large Aragamis at once and in the next mission, fighting small fries or a single large Aragami. Lastly, some of the voiceovers, especially the endgame, do not match the text displayed.
you get 2 game in 1!! You Start with Resurrection then Rage Burst, both Fun to play I grind hours Bonking Aragami with my Boost Hammer!! its have the Same Monster Hunter Game Play/Formula BUT!! God Eater is More Fast Phase and the game like to make you fight Multiple Aragami in one Mission I saw some new players streaming this game I notice they dont keep their Burst up all the time, thats why they are having hard time, new player tip: try to keep your Burst up all the time and grab Alisa/Julius for Burst 3!
Tried both games on PSP long ago, didn't get very far. Bought all 3 GE games after playing through Code Vein and loving it. I've played all these games on my Steam Deck OLED and while I've had some stuttering problems initally, they're fixed with a simple line "taskset -c 0,2 %command%" added to launch options (don't bother with the PROTON_NO_FSYNC one you might've found on the Internet, it doesn't work). Fixed both games for me, after that, almost zero problems, save for a single black screen during one of GERs ending cutscenes). That being said, both God Eater Resurrection and God Eater 2 Rage Burst are very good, yet flawed games. I'm not sure if the series qualifies for the "hidden gem"/"cult classic" status, but I'd say it does. The aesthetics (uniforms, weapons, character/monster designs) are just dripping with that edgy 2000s anime coolness, you just love to see it. The music is made by Go Shiina, if you know that name, then it should tell you everything you need to know about the games' soundtrack. It rocks. They just don't make them like this anymore. I've played through these games when I craved some of that sweet, sweet anime cheesiness that's so sincere/earnest you can't help but find it endearing, and that's exactly what I got. While the stories aren't very deep (unless you're 14), don't try anything new nor seek to subvert your expectations, they're still very enjoyable for the most part and you should end up warming up to the majority of the cast. Sadly, I can't say the same positive things about the gameplay. Both games very much show their age here. It's not terrible, but 50 hours deep into Resurrection, the grind really started to wear me down. Granted, you don't really HAVE to grind in order to progress the main story (save for material farming to keep up with the difficulty), but there are still some things locked behind optional missions like secret characters. The Predator Styles are a great addition to GER, they add some very nice customization to your moveset and their absence is very noticeable when starting GE2RB. I guess Blood Arts are cool, too, I just wish you could equip more than one. Overall, I feel like if you're into both anime and monster hunting genre of games, the series is a must play, especially considering for how cheap you can get it these days. Like, what do you MEAN you buy one game and get the other one FOR FREE?? P.S: Ren is the best girl.
