The game was a flawed masterpiece on release. I bought it day 1. The story was great, the visuals amazing, but there were a lot of gameplay issues. Then the developer just decided to fix all of them, so now instead of it being a flawed masterpiece, it's just a plain old masterpiece. Absolutely adore this game.

After the new update, I felt compelled to leave a review. I hadn't yet, and thought I needed too. Not too much to say if I'm being honest, if you want an RE like game set in world war one, this is it. It's all the best parts of 90s gaming without the most annoying parts. Perfect for someone like me, who likes older games but is always annoyed at how little QOL there is. Highly recommend it, and I hope this helps get the game to overwhelmingly postive! :D Edit: I've just finished the game, I got the secret ending, and... being 19 myself, this game hit hard. I haven't quite felt this way since I finished TWD season 1. Just thinking about how this happened to hundreds of thousands of people just like me, and they never came home, or came home a completely different person. It's horrifying. This game makes you realize war isn't a game in real life, taking someone's life isn't something you just move on from. I know this sounds a bit cheesey and corny, but it's true. It's terrifying to think that if a third world war happens, I could end up going through the same horrors. Or never making it back. And just thinking of how little they knew about PTSD and everything back then, it makes it even worse. They had no support to help them deal with their trauma. Anyways, this ends my long winded yap fest. I just wanted to let the developer know, his game really touched me

I like the gameplay loop but the amount of backtracking is simply over 9000. also power went down at my place for a minute and i've lost ~1h progress. Enable checkpoints on your first playthrough, don't hurt urself

Conscript is an old school game, perhaps a little too old school. Alot of little things prevents it from being truly enjoyable, especially the more as you play. Pros: Enjoyable art style and direction Great story telling Puzzles Cons: Alllllooooottttt of back tracking No mini map will make you press that M button to know where the hell you are every second. Combat is not really satisfying Some map design will make you run like a mouse in a maze prolonging every tasks for no reasons It's worth picking up on sale. Overall score 7.1/10
