There's an old game called sea dogs: city of abandoned ships, previously age of pirates 2 but renamed because of the disney movie. It's on steam, it's legendary, you should buy it. Unfortunately both the graphics and the controls are quite rough, but it's worth it to look past that. Corsair's legacy is an EA game trying to replicate that game in a modern engine. It looks and plays beautifully. It's missing some functionality, but they're a small studio just slowly working away to get it better. I consider buying the game to be like contributing to a kickstarter. This could be really good, and I want it to succeed.
One thing I’m still missing is female characters. I’d really like to see more interactions and social mechanics involving women in the game world, such as brothels or similar locations that fit the historical setting. Games like GTA included optional side activities like this, and I think having more mature role-playing mechanics would make the world feel more alive and believable. Right now, the world feels a bit too focused on male characters, and I’d love to see more variety in future updates. Overall, though, I think the game is fantastic and I’m really enjoying it.
As someone who spent hundreds of hours in Sea Dogs back in the day, this game honestly gives me a similar feeling sometimes. You can tell the project is still Early Access and there’s still a lot of work ahead, especially on polishing and animations, but the core is already there. The world systems, ship progression, convoys, boarding, exploration — it feels like somebody is finally trying to bring back that old pirate RPG feeling again instead of making another arcade pirate game. If they continue improving at this pace, I’ll definitely return for the full release.
If you enjoyed the original Korsary (Sea Dogs), playing Corsair's Legacy feels like reconnecting with an old friend in a new tavern. It captures the rugged atmosphere we all loved in the early 2000s. Important Note for Veterans: > * Early Access: Remember, the game is still in active development. It’s a work in progress, so expect some rough spots. Structure: Unlike the classic titles, there is no open world for free-roaming exploration at the moment. The gameplay is currently more focused and mission-based. Even with these limitations, it is the most authentic "Corsairs" experience we've had in years. Just keep in mind that the full Caribbean map isn't available yet.
