A couple of jumpscares, great audio and visual designs. I love the voice actors. The puzzles were good! I was resolute in not looking up a guide, but I finally gave in and had to look one up. That particular puzzle (the rotating red lights in relation to the stained glass) is my only critue of the game. I feel that particular puzzle could've used more player guidance or clues. Maybe everyone else sees a tree and a castle and knows that they symbolize a north position, but I had no idea.
It's the experience from the game that counts the most, and the whole series (I've played 1,2 and 3 so far) has satisfied me in full. Catching story, beatiful drawings, good and interesting puzzles, invigorating action parts. I enjoyed the play from the beginning till the end, and I'm looking forward to playing other Creepy Brothers' games I've already bought.
Great game, fantastic introduction too spooky puzzle games for kids and absolutely full of charm. Basically a straight upgrade from the first one with voiced characters, better visuals, more diverse gameplay and a longer game with a fuller story. However it doesn't have the same charm as the first one but, it has its own style of charm.
Some game sequels immediately make the first feel like a proof of concept. Everything that was good about the first game is apparently perfected. It's a swell adventure into Slavic dark fantasy and all elements come together brilliantly. You can play this without playing the first without feeling lost but you'd be missing out on another good game. Together they feel like convincing world building in which the magic and rules follow an internal consistency and we are now following different people experience the same breed of evil. They didn't hold back on making this macabre but it also feels like a real fairytale. The gameplay will serve as a fine, but not undoable challenge. I have only two notes really: One is the Owl Number Puzzle. I felt that there weren't enough clues for the answer. The way to solve it felt random rather than what it should be: arbitrary. I had to check a walkthrough for the first time in a while. My other issue was, well, I liked that they game had voice acting in both English and Russian. I'm a sucker for knowing I'm hearing the canonical dialogue, I have love for the Russian language enyway and it all goes with the whole Russian folklore vibe that runs thru all of it. But unfortunately you cannot mix and max the dubbing with the subtitles. The makers did not consider that some of us want to hear the Russian dialogue but cannot understand Russian well yet. The English version is still good tho. The actors don't sound like they have eny real grasp of English at all. They make some forgivable pronunciation mistakes so it all keeps a certain Russian-ness about it. To put it simply: if you liked the first game at all, you'll love this. And if you haven't played the first one then do.
