This is not the perfect Cricket game, it still needs a lot of fixes and improvements. But it's definitely a nice upgrade over Cricket 24. Even though a lot of old issues persist in this game, a lot of small improvements were made to make the game worth buying over Cricket 24. Positives: [+] In the previous Cricket games it always felt like batting was just about timing. But here batting is more realisic where footwork and shot selection matters. Awkward batting animations have reduced significantly. [+] AI Fielding has definitely improved and feels more realistic; at least near the boundaries. Previously only one AI fielder used to move and other fielders would just stand. Now the multiple AI fielders run towards the ball, sometimes if one ai fielder misses it ball changes direction and other fielder catches the ball. AI fielders now dive to either take fantastic catches or miss them adding more immersion to the game. [+] Bowler can now call the wicket keeper and slip fielders forward or tell them to go back more. I can not stress enough how much I wanted this feature in the previous games. It always infuriated me that slower balls from fast bowlers always dropped before going to the keeper. [+] The overall physics feels way better than Cricket 24 making both batting and bowling feel better. [+] I like the career mode overhaul. There are slight improvements to everything and performance report from the coach after each match was a great touch. [+] Difficulty is more balanced now. Previously every difficulty option felt either too easy or too difficult to me. [+] AI is better at strategizing fielding now. Now I can not play boundaries in the same gap in a row like previous cricket games, making the shot selection more difficult and immersive. [+] A much needed menu overhaul even though Don Bradman Cricket 14's classic menu is my favorite [+] Nice graphics and performance improvements. I like the weather effects now. Also, rain effecting a match almost never happened in the previous cricket games but it happens in this game. Besides, rain drops look better now. Negatives: [-] AI fielding in the infield while bowling is bad and bugs are very common. Sometimes the fielders and the bowler is standing for no reason while the opponent batsmen are taking one-two runs very easily. [-] Playing a straight shot is very very difficult and always risky. I feel like there should be balance. Almost every shot needs to be played as backfoot now which is infuriating. Also it feels like the shot variation has decreased significantly. [-] They have a nice song in the trailer but in the game there are some repetitive music. Previous Big Ant Studios Cricket games had nice song and music just like FIFA games; this one lacks them. Even Don Bradman Cricket 14, a 12 year old game had some amazing music in the menu. Also, the trailer song should be inside the game, that song is nice. [-] Career Mode progression could have been better. Don Bradman Cricket 14 had the best progression as the stats went up based on which shots I played and which type of deliveries I bowled during bowling. [-] Sadly, they recycled the commentary from Cricket 24. Commentary is very inaccurate most of the times. Cricket 24 had the same issue. [-] Literally no one cares about pro mode. So, please Big Ant stop wasting your time updating the pro mode and improve the gameplay quickly. Lastly, I would like to mention that people overrating EA Cricket 2007 never even played the modern cricket games. Sure, EA Cricket 2007 is still a great arcade cricket game, but Big Ant Studios has come a long way and is on their way to create a proper immersive cricket game. For now Cricket 26 is the best and most immersive cricket game out there.
I tell you what, ladies and gentlemen, I’ve been waiting years for a cricket game that actually feels like cricket — and Cricket 26, well… it’s not a bad little knock at all! Most of my time is spent deep in Career Mode, grinding away in the early domestic competitions, trying to scrape together a few runs and not get absolutely cleaned up first ball. Watching your player slowly build stats, improve skills, and eventually strut onto the international stage — that’s the good stuff. Proper long-term cricket journey… none of this overnight superstar nonsense. Marvellous effort! I also jump online for a few 5-over matches with my uncle, and those short games are perfect when you just want a quick hit without packing lunch for a five-day Test. When the timing clicks with the bat and the bowling rhythm is humming, you sit back and say, “Now that’s cricket!” What I love Career Mode progression keeps you coming back season after season Batting and bowling feel top shelf once you learn the mechanics Plenty of competitions and modes to keep the scoreboard ticking Cross-platform online makes it easy to play mates and family Huge shout-out to the modding community — updated teams, kits, faces, the lot… absolute gold! What needs a bit of nets practice A few bugs and crashes still pop up now and then Fielding and AI decisions occasionally make you shake your head — “What was he thinking?!” Some features could use a bit more depth in future updates Overall Cricket 26 isn’t perfect — no game is — but for cricket tragics it delivers where it counts: enjoyable gameplay, a cracking Career Mode, and quick online matches that are great fun with your mates. With patches rolling in and the modding legends doing their thing, the game keeps getting better. And when everything comes together — perfect cover drive, top-class delivery, crowd roaring — you just sit back and say, “That’s what cricket’s all about, Richie!”
Great game not sure why everyone complains when it’s a small aussie developer. Why would you complain about license for teams when they made it so you can download any team umpire or player online for free? Took about 5 minutes to download all international teams and players ??? Try be positive and support your own
Cricket 26 Surprised Me More Than I Expected After spending a good chunk of time with Cricket 26, I can say this is the most invested I have been in a cricket game in years. I went in thinking it would feel like Cricket 22 again, but once I started my first Management Career save, it hooked me immediately. You really do feel the pressure of running a squad. Handling training sessions, picking lineups, dealing with form and watching players develop over months actually changes how you approach every match. It is easily the mode I kept coming back to.. Gameplay feels tighter too. Batting finally has some consistency. Shots feel cleaner and the timing makes more sense than before. Fielding definitely got some attention because I noticed fewer strange animations and more realistic reactions. Bowling is still something you grow into, but once you settle into a rhythm it feels great. The Ashes presentation is surprisingly immersive. The buildup, the commentary flow and the tour atmosphere pulled me in more than I expected. Pro Team caught me off guard because I was not expecting to enjoy a pack based mode in a cricket game, but here we are. Pulling players, building a team and trying to take them online became a fun side loop. And the Academy tools are still a gem. I already downloaded a few community made stadiums and they look amazing. Visually the game looks nice but not mind blowing. Lighting is better and animations look smoother in motion. I did run into a couple of odd AI moments and one or two minor bugs, but nothing game breaking. Performance overall was steady for me. Finally, the price... isn’t cheap, but it delivers hours of detailed gameplay, management, and immersive Ashes action. Paying a bit more for a complete experience is fair. Final Thoughts Cricket 26 feels like the first time Big Ant has actually pushed toward something deeper instead of another yearly update. The mix of management, improved gameplay and the Ashes focus makes it the most complete cricket game I have played so far. If they keep patching and smoothing out the rough edges, this could easily become the go to cricket title for a while. Also, if Pat Cummins bowls in real life the way he does in my Career Mode, my top order needs therapy because they are walking back to the pavilion before the ball even hits the pitch.
