Great roguelike that has strong theming, great core mechanics and a lot of content. I've listed more negatives than positives below, but the core game is a gem and the negatives are mostly pretty minor. The positives: + All the game mechanics fit the theme tightly + The graphics/animations and sounds are all great + The core game concept is solid and lots of fun + The game length is about right And the negatives: - The game's too easy. I've played 10 games now (with 5 different characters and all the difficulties) and won all of them. I'd expect a roguelike to be a bit more punishing. (disclaimer - I have spent thousands of hours on other roguelikes) - I really don't like the 'spend 10000 gems' type grindy achievements that take many games and little skill to achieve. I'd prefer if they all rewarded me for doing something cool/difficult (eg: have 100 or more coins on the first day) - A few things in the game reward grinding rather than completing the level immediately (eg: Golden Basket, Jeweler and Bok Choy) - Ending a level early feels bad when you miss out on item drops - The 'bosses' feel unthematic, just a slightly harder level. Ideally, I'd like to see bosses that are very tricky and even force me to modify my deck a bit during the act to deal with them - The events mostly feel pretty underwhelming. It generally seems much more beneficial to go to a harvest location (unlike games like Slay the Spire with persistent HP, I never feel like a harvest/combat might be risky) - The music's a bit underwhelming

Great concept. Would like to see a larger impact from chapter/boss loot. Perhaps a relic system to scale to bigger maps, or more impactful hazards.

cleverly well-designed compact little game with high replayability, love it. not sure why but this game keeps reminding me of Plants vs. Zombies. maybe an idea for a future hazard? + there’s a tutorial, and NPCs explaining things from time to time + pets / scarecrows / trading card packs / biomes. + wide variety of cards and upgrade diversities. + detailed info on every card. + smooth & snappy UI + you can complete a level early. - can't undo a move? - no shortcut tips when hovering over the buttons. - where do i find the shortcut manual? i figured out X = end turn / H = harvest / WASD / 1234. - can't remap keys. - TAB gets registered when exiting the SHIFT+TAB.

This is one of the fastest deckbuilders I've ever played. It's easy to get into, doesn't require much thinking for each turn, it's just very... round. That doesn't mean it has no depth - there are definitely different strategies you can play with and even need to on higher difficulty settings. It's a super cute game, ideal for a short gaming session after work, but still has the "just one more level" potential to make you addicted. You've been warned. :-)

This was one of my most anticipated games of the year, along with STS2 and neither disappointed. As an avid roguelite/deckbuilder enjoyer, there aren't many ways to reinvent the wheel but this game felt like a breath of fresh air. The game feels very rewarding with your strategies and many of the Pets has its own restrictions and strengths that help distinguish itself from each other. I had a lot of fun trying out the different cards and synergies within the archetypes to find out what works and doesn't work. While most of the archetypes are viable, it was a learning experience in itself to see what plants could be considered core pieces and what can be considered complementary pieces. Scarecrows have a very charming design to them and even the more common ones have very useful applications depending on the build. While some scarecrows are more powerful than others, runs won't end just because you didn't have the best-in-slot scarecrow for that archetype. Most of the time I usually don't pay much attention to the art direction in games but this one in particular stood out to me. The growth I've seen from the game starting with the initial demo has very positive as I was initially worried the game would feel "solved" very quickly, despite the unconventional concept. Safe to say I was wrong and even after almost 50 hours into the game, I'm still having an amazing time. I would highly encourage anybody that has an interest in roguelite deckbuilders or cozy farming games to give this a try. From players that have sunk way too many hours into this genre or your casual adult that only has a few hours each week to game, I think this game has a lot to offer.
