The few reviews that say the game is too hard or you spend too much time hiding are probably playing this game entirely wrong. Most of the time just sprinting around the map does not work like in most other horror games. In Cryo, stealth is your friend, sticking together is usually a bad idea, and if you're alone, you have to make use of the distraction techniques like the MP3 player and timers to safely avoid the monster. Every monster reacts differently to players as well, where the Feral will just chase the nearest sight/sound until line of sight is lost, the Stalker and Hound will always move to where they heard you last and then patrol that area for a minute or so until they move on. If you immediately start running around, yelling, and slamming doors, of course the monster is going to camp you. This isn't a normal brain-dead horror game where you just run away from threats and eventually you lose them. You have to use the environment to your advantage and learn the patterns and strengths/weaknesses of each different monster. The devs are very active and you can tell they care about this game and their other game (Labyrinthine) a lot. Their games are truly gems in a sea of rough DBD and Monstrum knockoffs. Also, give it a shot with at least one or two friends and you will have a good time once you figure out the map(s) and monsters. Side Note: You can play with more than four players if change the Launch options under the game properties in Steam. Right click on Cryo in your Library, select options, and in the Launch Options blank on the general tab put the following: -set_player_limit 8
Honestly, I screamed for many hours playing this game. It is absolutely terrifying. The developer is very diabolical in his programming because the AI feels way too real. The monster actually hides around corners and will wait for you to walk by before attacking. To whoever made this game, if you read this: I hope your mom hugs you. Seriously, you need it.
it's a great game don't get me wrong, i'm just a really huge coward. it's a really scary game and unfortunately i can't play it because of how scared i get - you can't look around quickly to find the monster because theres so many turns and rooms (adding an alert sound or at the very least footsteps for both monsters so you KNOW it's there would be amazing) - the maps are huge.. how am i supposed to find anything (i kept walking in circles.. maybe a map you unlock while you walk around?) the monsters need more than a slight music pick up to be able to hide in time because if you see it, it's already too late because it sees you too... now as said above, it's an amazing game and this is entirely on me that i'm not able to play because i'm just too scared of it.. but maybe some changes will be made in the future that makes it a little easier for people like me.. maybe a different difficulty for cowards hahah
