The amount of joy and frustration I have gotten out of this game is extremely high, and I'm always coming back for one more run! For such a simplistic-looking game there's an incredible amount of complexity here, and I'm a huge fan of it. If you aren't huge on the rhythm side of things, there's a beatless mode that works very well (though I do think it helps to be familiar with the way beats work in game)

Got this for under $4 back in 2016. I remember listening to the OST extensively while studying for my gen/organic chemistry classes. Got perfect grades and it helped spark a lifelong obsession with electronic music, so would definitely recommend. Did not get around to playing the actual game until now but it's really fun! It took me about 9 hours to reach the first ending. The game has a learning curve, but it's fair. You quickly get a feel for it if you are patient and don't let the occasional moments of rage get to you. Unsure if I will beat the game with other characters or get the DLCs, but I enjoyed my time with it. Tips: Ranged weapons make the game much easier. The blunderbuss is game-breaking but I have only seen it spawn once. Boxes/crates often have food/health items. Armor reduces damage to a minimum of 1/2 heart but not zero. Make use of the practice room if you have difficulty with bosses/mini-bosses (red dragons gave me a lot of grief when I first encountered them).

This one is certainly a bang for your buck. The idea behind the gameplay is simple. It won't take long to get the hang of the rhythm element, and needing to dance around each enemy's predictable pattern is punishing but fair, and very fun. The difficulty is highly adjustable, with one character allowing you to completely ignore the rhythm, moving at your own pace, and plenty of characters that increase the difficulty to the point where the challenge can be as great as you could possibly wish. I personally have only scraped the surface of this game, but would still highly recommend it to those who want a challenging roguelike (seriously the game is just Rogue but if it was good and a rhythm game). with a banger OST. And if it's of interest, you can play this game with one hand, as it only uses the arrow keys, which is nice.

The negative reviews are mostly *I bought a skill-based rhythm game and I'm not good at it, so the game as a whole is a negative.* It's an amazing game.

This game has a relatively steep learning curve, but in a way that feels so rewarding rather than painful. You can really feel yourself slowly improving and getting better, and it feels so good! It is so cool to just be a different type of rhythm game! The enemies all move in different patterns, and when you finally get in sync with them, it feels so good! Much recommended!!
