Fun bite-sized ARPG that condenses the formula down to a somewhat Vampire Survivors-like experience while maintaining plenty of build complexity. Good quality of life in terms of respeccing and such, but some stats are really unclear to me. For example, I'm not entirely sure what it means to "aggravate" damage over time, but I have to assume it's stacking somehow? Regardless, fun for a couple of afternoons and worth grabbing on sale.

My thoughts after a couple hours: - Fun lazy arvo game. - Plenty of build freedom. - The aesthetics are uniform and pleasing. - Dying isn't essential, runs don't begin from the start again. - I haven't seen one preset to adjust all 'presets' yet. - Stats aren't clear. Feel like I have about a 50% understanding on what damage types and stacking is happening. - No cut scenes or long mono/dialogues. - Not punished for trying out combo's which fail.

Dark Hunting Ground takes the core of what makes Path of Exile so addictively fun and strips away everything else. If PoE is like eating a cake, DHG is like eating the frosting straight out of the mixing bowl.

Extremely under-appreciated game. Rewarding loot, good progression curve, nice crafting, few different systems to engage. Build-making is extremely satisfying. I wish the game the very best, the devs behind it definitely know what they are doing. Games like d4 and poe2 would be proud to have such talented game designers.
