Saw that this game had launched and decided to give it a try. Summed up, kinda has that old Elder Scrolls feeling, when Bethesda actually tried. There's no overworld map, so you end up choosing which 'dungeon' you wish to go and conquer. Kill enemies, unlock chests, grab loot. Kill the Boss of the place. Happy little neuron activation. The fighting in the game is pretty bog standard for the player, at least before skills. And it's a little weird requiring weapon mastery to equip higher versions of weapons and armor and stuff. All in all, it's got it's charm; I'd highly suggest playing it. Additional thoughts: I was expecting the outpost to be more... open, honestly. Starting off as a makeshift tent with a wooden tower that was hastily constructed to keep an eye on the surrounding area, and just have it grow with stone and mortar and eventually making it a proper outpost/keep. It's the little things, y'know? And finally, to address the controversy: Day 1 DLC. The game doesn't need it, and it was agreed on before the 1.0 release between the Developer and Early Access Players. It's just something a little extra to make the game a little more interesting, so buy it or don't. With that said, the majority of the complaints made follow around the agreement but are mostly made by people that have no interest in the game to begin with. I haven't gotten the DLC as of yet because I want to experience what the game is like with and without it. And I can say that it's perfectly fine without it. Sheesh.

Way back a year or so ago the dev had a survey for all of us early adopters asking if we wanted magic(it wasnt in the original plans for the game) and asked if $10'ish would be a practical price for said upgrade. Most of us said hell yes. This is not a cash grab, its what was discussed and implemented. I know it looks bad but really that is how it went down. If this is your first time seeing the game theres your back story. Congrats on crossing the finish line on the game, happy to see it out.

Decent game. I bought it at I think 25% off, which I think is a fair price for what you're buying. At 25.7 hours I've reached level 52 or so, completed the main storyline (after having dragged my feet a bit) and fully upgraded my base. Got 28 / 35 achievements (80%). Wasn't focused on achievement hunting. Basically, the game is what you'd get if you took the draugr dungeons out of Skyrim and just turned that into a gameplay loop. Its a simple game, though not bad if you understand that you're buying it specifically and only for that experience. The combat is roughly on par with Skyrim or Dark Messiah, which seem to be the primary sources for inspiration. There is not magic in the game yet, but apparently the dev plans to implement that at some point. The storyline is perfunctory at best, and only serves to give you some excuse to have a game. There's some concept of a big bad evil guy using evil crystals to do... something. So you have a loop of fetch quest -> hunt crystals -> fetch quest -> hunt crystals etc. with random dungeons in between, until you reveal the final area. But that final battle doesn't actually include the big bad evil guy, even though there's an achievement for completing the story. So I hope there's a plan to actually finish out the story with a real final boss at some point, but right now it just sort of ends after you kill the last few evil crystals. There's really only one primary NPC to give you main quests, and she's AI-voiced. I know that bothers a lot of people, so it's worth mentioning. There is one city in the game with merchants and side quests. I found it pretty fun when I realized that there are hidden goodies around the city as a reward for nosing about and platforming, so that was nice.

I am having a blast of a time. Really enjoying the gamplay. You have combat (stealth or brute force the choice is yours), you have puzzles, you have an economy, you have crafting in short the whole 9 yards. The best thing imo is however, that you can design your character to your gamplay style (mix and mash from all classes and if you dont like it you can reskill with ease!!!) Worth giving it a shot for sure :)

This is a good one! It immediately clicked multiple of my buttons! The only issue i have with this game so far is that the combat feels a bit unresponsive but it seems there are plans already to make it better! It's very obvious that RAIDBORN was made by a gamer because you can see the influence of good games in every corner (Mostly Gothic... im pretty sure about that) + Exploration is rewarded handsomely! When i entered the town i of course started to check it out, the first thing i realized was... this place has a good size! It gave me borderlands vibes, it's not like in most games only a tavern and a lamppost or a single room. You will find hidden loot, treasure and locked doors with their hidden keys. I spent my first 20 minutes in the game exploring the town and looking in every corner. This doesn't change in the dungeons, loot is hidden all over the place! + Base building! You can build a sizeable hideout, hire NPC's and craft and upgrade gear to your hearts content! + Main Quests are voiced! Most Npc's have only a few lines like vendors or side quest NPC's but the main quest is fully voiced. Not the best but it's definitely better than nothing! + Lots of QoL! Sell trash with one click. Crafting materials are used from the chest or inventory. Pin items to highlight. Quickslot bar like in TES Skyrim but better! Respec your skills. + Lockpicking with a twist inspired by the Gothic game series. You can get ambushed while trying to unlock a chest! + Martial Combat: Stealth archer / Sword(Axe/Hammer) & Board / 2 Handed Weapons = Pick your style or mix and match. In most games players who like to wield a fat Greatsword, -axe or -hammer are met with dissapointment because they are outclassed by 1 handed weapons... Not here, you have a complete talent tree dedicated to it. Which brings us to... + Basic Talent tree: Nothing fancy but it gets the job done by guiding you down your path. + Believe it or not it has really nice immersive music! + Events and simple Puzzles! + Enviremental Hazards for enemies. You can kick them in to spikes. + Weather effects and Day & Night transition! + Endless replayability! - No Magic (yet, i don't know about the future) I don't really have any complaint's about this game. If you like quick singleplayer dungeon runs and lots of loot you can't go wrong! The low poly graphics might turn down some people but it doesn't bite me.
