I went into Dead Island: Riptide expecting more of the same, and that's pretty much exactly what I got. If you enjoyed the first game, this is an easy recommendation. The combat is still satisfying, especially once you level up your character and start crafting ridiculous weapons that send zombies flying. The story isn't anything special, but that's not why I played it. Exploring the island, completing side quests, and smashing through hordes of zombies with friends is where the game shines. Co-op is still the best way to experience it. There are definitely some downsides. It reuses a lot from the original game, the missions can get repetitive, and there are still a few bugs here and there. It feels more like a large expansion than a true sequel. Overall, if you're looking for a fun zombie game with satisfying melee combat and great co-op, Dead Island: Riptide is worth picking up—especially on sale.
it was fun but i don't really think it's a good game to play alone. it's better if you play with a friend that actually helps you, otherwise you're just gonna get stressed. the zombies are stronger than in the first game in my opinion. i died like 10 times or more at the beginning. the game also has a lot of bugs just like the first one. i got stuck in some shrubs and had to restart, which was really annoying. and it's so easy to get lost and have no idea what you're supposed to do because there's so many quests. i had that problem in the first game too but i feel like it was easier. in this one i was just walking around the island half of the time trying to figure out where i was supposed to go and it got really stressful. it was okay. i love xian though she's my new strong woman inspiration :) btw if you're gonna play with a friend, play with someone that actually helps because mine didn't do ♥♥♥♥
This game is a direct sequel to the original Dead Island. The story literally continues where it left off. There is no difference between the first game and this sequel in terms of graphics or gameplay. The game is just as long as the original game, so if you liked the original Dead Island and want more, then you will also like this sequel. The game has small bugs, but nothing that would spoil the experience. Enjoy killing zombies.
I really enjoy playing it, especially in coop: the gameplay is fast-paced and the loot really keeps me coming back . The atmosphere and exploration do the job and easily pull me in for long sessions without noticing the time passing . However, I often run into some frustrating bugs, quests getting stuck, or performance issues that sometimes break the flow .
A solid remaster of the second entry in the series that picks up immediately after the first game's conclusion. While it feels more like a massive expansion than a complete structural overhaul, the new additions and refinements keep the experience from feeling stale. It is a blast in co-op if you can overlook a few rough edges and subpar sections, it’s a journey well worth taking. Pros: Good progression. Very atmospheric at times. Great visuals. Attention to the details. Visceral combat. Great weapon upgrade system. Awesome in co-op. Good optimization. Decent story. Very cool dismemberment system. Great voice acting and soundtrack. Good enemy variety. Cons: In solo, horde defense sections are annoying. Navigation can be tricky due to a broken GPS system. Some annoying bugs and physics quirks.
