June 2025
I played the original Dead Rising game religiously, way back in the day on my Xbox 360. I think this is the definitive version that everybody should play. The game runs well, I am about halfway through the main story and have not experienced any slowdowns, glitches, crashes, or basically anything bad. Frame rates seem to be smooth, I have not noticed any hiccups or stuttering... Basically, from my experience, this is a well made game. It looks good, runs well, and is tons of fun to play with sharp controls that improve upon the original in meaningful ways. The pacing of the game, like the original, can be a little bit hectic if you are a perfectionist. There are multiple endings to this game, and some involve you NOT completing everything on time, so do not feel like you have to run around like a mad man trying to hit all these deadlines at once if you are finding it frustrating. You can always enjoy the game casually first, and then go for the perfect run later when you know what you are doing. It is just about possible to do everything on time, but without making use of short cuts it can be down to the wire. The next part of my review is for people who played/loved the original and are wondering how this version compares: The difficulty has perhaps been reduced slightly, some of the zombies stand idly until you hit them first, but it is not a dramatic change. The survivors you have to rescue and drag back to base are MUCH more intelligent, and I have found that once they 'join' me, for the most part I can just run to the next load zone and wait for them to catch up - I wonder if the zombies are not simulated so far in the distance which allows them to just freely cross the map without you trying to lead them. It made me wonder if this was a good or a bad change - since I remember hating how useless the survivors were in the original... Now they are not useless, it is almost boring saving them! Some of the textures/artwork seem to be really obviously AI generated/upscaled, there are a few pieces of signage that are worded badly, and a lot of the banners just feel like they have been done with AI. Little things like capitalisation of certain words/not others, that sort of thing. The controls/movement are SHARP and it is a pleasure to play. I dug my Playstation 4 out to play the original game and this one is so much better I can't see myself ever going back to the OG version. The new voices took a little bit of getting used to, but now I think I prefer them. Same with the new Frank model - in the original game I felt Frank looked a bit too young to be calling other characters 'kid' and such, but now it all works well and feels correct. I hear there are mods to increase the difficulty and lower the amount of PP you gain, and if you want an experience similar to the original then by all means look them up, but I have so far found the game to be enjoyable as-is. Some of the bosses feel a little bit weak, but that may just be because I played the original game so much and all the tactics from there still apply here - lots of bosses can be cheesed with a decent weapon and just spamming them quickly before they get the chance to do anything... Like you could with the original! TLDR: This is great, get it bought!

I'm kind of mixed on this game. Base vanilla it feels more like a side grade from the original, better controls, better graphics but censored with a worse voice cast in general with the difficulty made way too easy. HOWEVER, with mods this easily becomes the definite Dead Rising Experience. A better younger Frank West model, the original PP balance restored from the OG xbox 360 release, zombies no longer being on idle and aggroing more along with a custom hard core difficulty. Don't get this game on consoles, PLEASE get it on PC so that you have access to all the QOL and game changing mods. Pick it up on sale and you will have a great time with it.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is Great BUT, 1. There is a lot of "Censorship" or Changing of lines, trophy names, and some in-game mechanics. 2. Graphics are GREAT but there are some ugly moments like the area of Al Fresca Plaza 3. I wish personally the game would run better but it runs great... with the right settings for you PC. 4. The game is a lot easier than the original for example The AI is improved, leveling is quicker, and time skipping mechanic. 5. CapCom added something new for finding and saving 50 Survivors. It's an Infinite Durability book which works on anything that you hold with a durability (Other than food). MY SCORE: 7.5/10 I would recommend if you haven't played the original and always wanted to. WAIT FOR A SALE THOUGH.

As someone who has over thousands of hours on Dead Rising from the 360 to the Xbox One to PC, I will say that this game isn't as bad as everyone says it is. What DRDR does better than the original: Fast forward time (completely optional btw) Infinity mode has different survivor spawns each playthrough, making each playthrough more unique (they still spawn in the same areas from the original and you can see where they are on the map!) AI survivors are a bit smarter and can actually be left alone without getting slaughtered for the most part. Stairs that lead to the air duct vent thing. uhhhhh the mall looks better I guess???? Everything else is inferior to the original, but don't let that stop you from having fun.
