Probably the best game ever made. Of all time. Or at least in the top 10000s. Probably. Dishonored is a game where you play the game using controller, or perhaps a keyboard. You play as Corvo, royal protector guy turned assassin after the assassination of the empress (which you, Corvo, has been framed for). There is also a plauge going on. Forces unknown that become known takes notice of Corvo's predicament, and gifts him with dark powers that lets him teleport, stop time, and aim bot. Among other things. Corvo then goes on a revenge quest to take revenge. Shocking, I know. Gameplay is pretty boss, you have a sword for stabbing and a left hand to do literally everything else with. Along with the previously mentioned powers, you also have some nifty tools, like a gun. Anyway, let's move on from this section. Let's talk story. It is very mid. That's it, really. It does its' job of providing motivation for Corvo to do stuff, but it ain't some masterfully spun web of intrigue and mystery. But I digest. The world is the real highlight, the locations you explore during missions are well made and also inform you(the player) of the state the world is in. You can also find books and notes that expands upon the lore and whatnot. But let's talk about the most controversial thing in the game: the chaos system. Basically, if you kill people the city becomes worse, because the rats have more to eat so there's more rats, and guards are pulled from other parts of the city to defend the people you are trying to kill. So basically more rats, plauge victims and more gaurds. The game tries to tell you that your actions have consequences, and that you should not kill everyone. The game also only gives you two(2) non-lethal options for taking down foes. You can shoot the with a sleep dart(which you only have ten of) or you can choke them. However, if you want to kill stuff, you have crossbow, gun, grenade, sword, mine that launches razor wire, rat swarms that you can summon, and not that much more(but still more). So the game essentially says "don't kill people because bad anyway here is your new gadget that exploderizes people". The ending is also affected by the chaos system, low chaos good high caos bad. But both endings are fairly bland, and only have different dialouge and endings slides, but essentially the same outcome. Except the third, secret ending, which is much like the other two but is explicitly the bad ending. And also some things you do influence the ending slides. Anyways, enough of this nonsense. Because really, I haven't actually said anything of substance. Dishonored is an action stealth game and I think it is very fun. It is also very cheap, especially during sales. If you read all this, I love you. <3
Back in the early 2010s when Dishonored first came out I didn't get the chance to experience it only heard from other people how it is a must play. Fast forward to 2026 and I finally got the chance to play the game myself. Initially I wasn't that impressed because the events progressed so quickly, I won't spoil the game but lets just say things went south really fast. I thought it would be just an average experience but boy was I wrong. Turns out that was just the setup and you're only getting started. You play the role of Corvo Attano the Royal Protector to Empress Kaldwin, but that doesn't last long and you are framed for a crime you didn't commit BUT the game isn't about just you, you fight for a cause greater than yourself and the way you play the game DOES AFFECT the ending (Same as Bioshock). Since I mentioned Bioshock in the previous paragraph I would also like to add there are A LOT OF SIMILARITIES between the two, you can tell that Arkane devs are fond of Bioshock games and took inspiration from it when developing dishonored, upgrades, unique abilities, weapons, and even supernatural powers. The gameplay department isn't lacking at all. Then comes the music there isn't a lot of music in the game but there is a lot of work done when it comes to ambience you actually feel like you're in the world of dishonored and not just playing a game, kind of reminds of the soundscapes of City 17 in Half-Life 2 and White Forest in Half-Life 2: Episode 2. Although I should have included this with the gameplay section but I must add that Dishonored allows you to play any way you like, Don't want to make a lot of noise? Go for stealth in fact stealth is encouraged. Don't want to wait around and cause a lot of chaos? you can go scorched earth too. Basically there are no limits as to how you want to play but killing a lot of people affects the ending so be careful. Lastly the story and characters, While not at the same level as Bioshock but Arkane did a good job giving their characters depth and wrote a good story around it too. The world of Dishonored feels alien and surreal just like Bioshock games and yet at the same time it feels like a parallel and believable reality that advanced in a different direction. Now with all that out of the way are there any issues with the game? None that I encountered, no bugs or crashes for me throughout the game. So do I recommend this or not? Obviously I do 9/10, not perfect but so damn close
This is definitely a game made in 2012 because the option to Watergate-style Blackmail a politician with secret tapes confessing to actively attempt mass deaths of "poor, sick, and the lessers of society" will lead to said politician being executed (coincidentally the non-lethal option). Imagine the paradise we could be living in if we held ourselves to the same standard.

These choices influence not only the immediate gameplay but also the game's narrative and ending, offering multiple paths to success. Supernatural Powers: Corvo's supernatural abilities are incredibly fun and versatile. From bending time to possessing rats, these powers add a layer of strategic depth to the gameplay, making each encounter a puzzle to solve. Engaging Story: The narrative is gripping, filled with political intrigue, betrayal, and moral ambiguity. The characters are well-developed and memorable, each with their own motivations and secrets. Weaknesses: Combat Can Be Challenging: While stealth is encouraged, direct combat can be quite difficult, especially on higher difficulty settings. The enemy AI isn't always perfect, but it can still pose a significant challenge. Linear Level Design (In Places): While the game offers freedom of choice, the level design itself is sometimes linear, restricting the player's movement in certain areas. Overall: Dishonored is a truly remarkable game. Its immersive world, meaningful choices, supernatural powers, and engaging story combine to create a unique and unforgettable experience. While the combat can be challenging and the level design occasionally linear, these shortcomings are easily overshadowed by the game's many strengths. It's a must-play for fans of stealth-action games and anyone who appreciates a game that truly rewards player agency. I give it a 9/10.
