ATTENTION !!! The title of the game is completely misleading! Because it advertises TWO games, but in reality only the LionKing game can be played in color! Aladdin can only be played in black and white, but it is unenjoyable. "Demo version." If you want to play in color, you have to buy another DLC add-on on steam. So.. the two games are not actually 20 Euros, but 20+10=30 Euros! I'll tell steam this too: There's nothing wrong with something costing X Euros. The problem is with the incorrect description. By the way, the new menu is very nice, LionKing runs great, plus a lot of other interesting things have been added to the menu, such as a museum.

Disney Classic Games: Aladdin and The Lion King is a carefully assembled celebration of two of the most iconic licensed platformers of the 16-bit era, presented in a way that respects their legacy while making them playable and approachable for modern audiences. Developed by Digital Eclipse, a studio known for its archival expertise, the collection feels less like a simple port and more like a curated museum exhibit that invites players to step back into a time when Disney animation and video games briefly aligned to create something genuinely special. From the moment it launches, the collection communicates its reverence for the source material, emphasizing preservation, authenticity, and historical context rather than flashy reinvention. The gameplay experience remains largely intact, preserving the demanding design philosophies that defined early-90s console platformers. Aladdin focuses on swift movement, careful timing, and combat built around throwing apples and swinging a sword, with levels that emphasize verticality and cinematic flow inspired directly by the animated film. The Lion King, by contrast, is slower, more deliberate, and famously unforgiving, placing players in environments that demand precise jumps, environmental awareness, and mastery of Simba’s limited moveset—especially in the game’s early stages. Both titles retain their original difficulty curves, which can feel harsh by modern standards, but they also showcase how tightly designed and visually expressive these games were for their time. One of the most significant strengths of the collection is how it layers modern convenience on top of classic design without undermining it. Features such as instant rewind, save states, and level select dramatically reduce frustration while still allowing players to engage with the original mechanics on their own terms. These tools are especially impactful in The Lion King, whose reputation for difficulty has discouraged many players over the years. Rather than trivializing the experience, these options make experimentation and learning more accessible, encouraging players to appreciate the craftsmanship of each level instead of being driven away by repeated failure. Visually, the games remain striking decades later, thanks to hand-drawn animation techniques that translate beautifully to high-resolution displays. Character movements are fluid and expressive, environments are rich with color and detail, and iconic moments from both films are recreated with remarkable fidelity. Optional display settings, including aspect ratio adjustments and CRT-style filters, allow players to tailor the presentation to their preference, whether they want a clean modern look or a nostalgic approximation of playing on an old television. The original soundtracks and sound effects are preserved as well, reinforcing the strong emotional connection many players have with these titles. Beyond the games themselves, the collection’s archival content adds substantial value. A built-in museum mode offers concept art, design documents, and behind-the-scenes material that sheds light on how these games were developed and how Disney animation techniques influenced their visual style. This material contextualizes the games historically, highlighting the collaboration between animators and programmers at a time when licensed games were often rushed or disposable. Here, the extra content transforms the package into a genuine historical record, appealing not just to players but to anyone interested in game development history. That said, the collection is not without limitations. The overall amount of gameplay content is modest, and players unfamiliar with or indifferent to retro platformers may find the experience brief once the nostalgia fades. Some fans have also expressed disappointment over missing versions or variations that exist outside the base package, which can make the collection feel incomplete depending on one’s expectations. Additionally, while the difficulty aids are welcome, they cannot fully mask the fact that these games were designed for a very different era, with trial-and-error mechanics that may feel dated to newcomers. Community reception reflects this balance of appreciation and restraint. Long-time fans tend to praise the faithful emulation, thoughtful enhancements, and respect shown to the original works, while newer players often view the collection as an interesting historical snapshot rather than a must-play platforming experience. The consensus is that the value of the collection depends heavily on one’s relationship with these games—whether as formative childhood memories or as curiosities from gaming’s past. Taken as a whole, Disney Classic Games: Aladdin and The Lion King succeeds as a preservation-focused release that honors two beloved classics without attempting to modernize them beyond recognition. It offers a polished, respectful way to revisit—or newly discover—these games, complete with tools that soften their rough edges and archival content that deepens appreciation for their creation. While it may not convert skeptics of retro design, it stands as a strong example of how classic games can be reintroduced thoughtfully, preserving their identity while ensuring they remain playable and relevant in the modern era. Haha! I can see why this has confused/conflicting reviews. Making it so that this defaults to asking if you want to play an unavailable version of Aladdin rather than the available version is the most bonkers UI decision I have ever seen. Other than that, this is classic stuff. Millennial memory means that I can't remember where I left my keys but I can instantly recall cheat codes for games I haven't played since the '90s. Thanks, brain!

Loved it as a child but wasnt able to beat it at that time. But finally it was done. I only played Aladin and didnt touch the lion King. As many articles online can tell you it is hardcore and not fun in my opinion so I didnt try to finish it halfpoint was enough for me. Aladdin is simple but also great and not easy. I loved that it kinda captures the story of aladin but also tells a new one in a way. All old characters appear you knew of the old movie.
