Dont starve is a survival game through and through. It features a simple UI and a fantastic hand-drawn art style, with a dark and mysterious theme, which, if you wanted to, you could describe as a Burton-esque aesthetic. The animation of the characters and environment is fluid and satisfying, but not overwhelming. This is all complemented by the sound design and soundtrack. There is ambient storytelling throughout if you wish to engage with it, or if you are simply a fan of survival games and wish to see how many days you can survive, that is also completely viable. There are time no limits or constraints, forcing you to progress with the story. The game itself is highly replayable; it needs to be, as once you are dead, you're dead and must start again from a fresh save file, but what you do get to keep with you is your knowledge and experiences. I personally enjoy the complete lack of hand-holding in this game; however, if you would like a little more guidance, there is a large player base and access to well-written guides out there on the internet. One big tip that I will give anyone, though, is if you are using a mouse and keyboard, you can use “F” to attack enemies; it's far easier than attempting to click on a moving target.

I recently got into this because of the cameos of certain weapons and monsters in Terraria, and BOY have I been missing out. The thing I truly respect about this game is that instead of making itself accessible to appeal to as many people as possible, it decided to stick to its own identity in spite of pandering to a mainstream audience. Something you should take note is that this game WILL kick your butt on your first few runs, and you will constantly be on edge as you'll never truly feel safe at any given moment. The game was intentionally designed to be vague and let players figure out how things are done for themselves. (For the most part, anyway.) Though this can either be a good or a bad thing depending on who you ask. Myself, I'd say I'm somewhere down the middle. While I appreciate the game not shoving tutorials in my face, it can lead to some parts being confusing and you're always second guessing whether you're doing something right or not. If you truly want to optimize everything you do, a wiki is practically a requirement. Still, I admire the balls Klei had when they stuck to their guns and designed the game they way they did even if it might drive certain players away. That's not something you usually see from a lot of games nowadays. Sacrificing universal appeal for the sake of keeping the game cohesive. If you haven't already, pick this game up. The lack of direction at the start my be daunting for newcomers, but once you get the hang of how the game works, it's satisfying as hell.

Even after 51 hours played of this game, I can barely manage to survive winter. Quite chaotic if you have ADHD like me, you'll forget you need any light source at night, will probably lose track of time trying to hunt a butterfly for food, and you will probably start a fight with something you shouldn't have. 10/10 experience Jokes aside, I really enjoy this game probably more than the Don't Starve Together one (no friends to play with). It's got amazing art, very interesting mechanics, lovely music you can vibe to, and hours of content that I promise you won't get tired of (seen people with more than 1k hours on this game)

When this indie title debuted in 2013, it was a remarkable achievement that stood out within its genre, offering a fresh and engaging experience. However, revisiting it in the present day, absent the influence of nostalgia, reveals a work that now feels modest in scope and execution. While I continue to hold a sincere appreciation for what it once represented, the game's mechanics are elementary, its design is restrained, and its overall depth is limited. Upon completion, one is left with the impression that it lacks substantial content or meaningful progression. Nevertheless, its significance should not be understated, as it served as a foundational step in Klei’s creative trajectory, ultimately leading to the development of far more sophisticated and compelling titles such as Oxygen Not Included and Griftlands. Although I still encourage others to experience it, particularly those interested in the evolution of independent game development, it is best approached with tempered expectations, as it falls short of delivering a truly lasting or transformative experience.

I genuinely forgot how awesome this game is, i actually found it back in the day when i had a really bad PC and looked for some good low spec video games, and Don't Starve was number 1 on the list, i check it out and instantly fell in love, i love survival games probably more than any other gaming genre so this game is really a must have, and the price isn't even bad it's less than 10 bucks.
