May 2025
Incredibly atmospheric psychological horror in 2D. I don't usually play games of this genre, but as soon as I saw the screenshots, I instantly wanted to play. The game's stunning visuals immediately grab your attention: the backgrounds, foregrounds, and perspective of the objects on the screen, all of this perfectly reflect the outstanding art style. Complementing this are cool animations, light work and high-quality creepy cutscenes. All of this combines to make for an unbelievably suspenseful horror atmosphere. On top of that, the atmosphere is also well influenced by the sounds and soundtrack, which fit the game perfectly, and some scenes send chills down your spine. The immersiveness is one of the best parts of Downfall. The plot of the game is intriguing and complicated. It gives you the opportunity to interpret the story in different ways. The characters are well written, the main character is empathize with. It's really cool that a game like this has funny and heartfelt dialog that you can laugh at. It makes you sympathize with the characters even better. I will pay special attention to the voicing of the characters - it's wonderful. Every line is voiced just amazingly. I enjoyed every dialog in this game. You can hear how the actors put their soul into the voice acting. The gameplay is simple and clear. You have to walk around the location, listen to dialog and solve fairly simple puzzles. This completely suits Downfall. I recommend this game to check out primarily because of its great atmosphere. Over the course of a couple or three evenings, Downfall gives you completely different emotions, which makes it special.

Joe's journey is a tragic exploration of love and loss. His descent into madness is portrayed with a raw honesty that elicits both sympathy and unease. It's a stark reminder of the fragility of the human mind. Puzzles are integrated seamlessly into the narrative, thus they enhance the storytelling rather than detract from it, maintaining the game's immersive experience. In essence, Downfall is a disturbing, thought-provoking narrative that, while not reaching the heights of The Cat Lady, stands as a remarkable story in its own right. It's a descent into the macabre that leaves an indelible mark on the player's psyche. BUY!

I absolutely adore this game, would highly recommend. I can't tell you how many times I finished this game, still doesn't get me bored. The storyline is the one that makes me an addict of playing it. If you enjoy story based thrilling games, that's probably the one that you're looking for.

This is the 2nd game of the Devil Came Through Here Trilogy. Another great story just like the Cat Lady, although some of the game plots are open for interpretation. The game is fully voiced and done well. Overall a great experience as a mild horror game. Most of the achievements are easy to get. The endings B and C achievements could be a little bit tricky. For reference, first run took me 5+ hours, subsequent runs are around 2-3 hours.
