downfall doesn’t feel like a horror game that wants to scare you. it feels like a slow descent into someone’s broken mind. the violence and disturbing moments aren’t there for shock value, they’re there because the characters are already falling apart. joe isn’t a hero. he’s flawed, selfish, and drowning in guilt, and the game never tries to make that comfortable. the relationship at the center of the story feels twisted, tragic, and painfully human. gameplay is simple, almost barebones, but it works. the focus is clearly on atmosphere and storytelling. the hotel feels suffocating, like it’s watching you unravel piece by piece. the ending doesn’t give you answers, just consequences. and when the music fades out, you’re left sitting there, wondering if things could’ve ended differently. not scary in a loud way, but unsettling in a way that lingers. out of the entire series, this one stands out the most to me. not because it’s perfect, but because it feels the most personal and emotionally heavy.

Insanely good game. Be warned if you struggle with an ED. The very first conversation between Ivy and Joe already triggered me ("normal" people probably won't find anything noticeable about it). Love this game, this series. Next up is "Lorelai"!

Joe's journey is a tragic exploration of love and loss. His descent into madness is portrayed with a raw honesty that elicits both sympathy and unease. It's a stark reminder of the fragility of the human mind. Puzzles are integrated seamlessly into the narrative, thus they enhance the storytelling rather than detract from it, maintaining the game's immersive experience. In essence, Downfall is a disturbing, thought-provoking narrative that, while not reaching the heights of The Cat Lady, stands as a remarkable story in its own right. It's a descent into the macabre that leaves an indelible mark on the player's psyche. BUY!
