July 2025
Exocross is an odd, yet decent/okay game from IRacing. I'm not really sure where this came from, as it is not like their normal simulation racing, but it's not quite an arcade racer either. It's something in between, which in my mind is a good thing. There aren't too many offroad racing games like that. Having said that, I do have some positives, negatives, and nitpicks about the game. Positive is that it feels like a decent offroad racer. I like the idea of the game, too. They give a brief summary of what this kind of racing is and how it came to be. The artwork of these scenes is cool. It's that comic book style and I wish more games had those kind of scenes. I thought there may be a bigger story than expected, but it's nothing big or major. It's just there. The racing feels decent, although I will talk more about that later. The graphics are great. So are the track locations. There is not A LOT of locations, but the couple we get is decent. And the tracks themselves are good. I wish there were more, but its pretty scarce honestly. There is just enough to get by. And the cars are decent, too. 3 different horsepower vehicles. They are cool looking and drive decent enough. Again I wish there was more. There are only 6 championships, though. There are time trials, online, challenges and quick race, but little else. Which leads me to... Neutral: This game is just lacking, for lack of a better word, stuff. There are only 3 cars. only a few different tracks with different layouts, a couple locations, and not many type of events. What we get is decent, but its bare bones. Not bad, but not good. I wish there was more of a story. The devs could have gone a little crazy with a cool story to pad the scarcity, but again, I never expected a story to begin with. A couple nitpicks are that there is no mirrors. Coming from IRacing, that is surprising. No indicators to let you know if there is a car next to you. That's only a problem if you race on the hood like me. And NO bumper cam? Shame. No racing line or braking line. I don't care about that, but some people may miss that. No way to change the difficulty of the racers, either. You can remove ABS, TC, and SC like me, but it only makes the car harder (and more fun) to drive. I suggest that. Now the bad. I'm gonna be nice. This game is decent if you buy it on a heavy sale, like I did. The big sales will have this at least ten dollars, if not cheaper like I got it during the summer sale. I suggest this game ONLY on said sales. I can't suggest it higher than ten dollars. If there were many more modes, championships, tracks, cars, locations and maybe more story, the regular price would have been good, but it's just too bare in this state. I doubt anything will be added. Maybe a sequel with much more would be good. So the cars are good, but the most powerful v10 car is really odd. It has a lot of torque which is fun, yet challenging to drive, but during some tight corners, the car seems to crab walk? I know there's tons of power and you have to play with it, especially like me who drives with aids off, but still. It's just wonky and off. It's not bad, unless you're really pushing it or in traffic with AI... AI... Man, what a letdown. It's not good. And you can't raise it or lower it. The difficulty is the car class. That's lazy. The AI loves to stay in a pack and pinball everyone, including yourself. And when it happens, its terrible. You either get lucky at the start and scoot away from them to never see them again, or you're resetting or restarting the race because some AI decides to door you and send you off to play Death Stranding (joke on the landscape lol). It's just bland, boring, and annoying. The racing itself can feel decent, but the lack of a good AI doesn't help. You can't change how many cars to race against, but that may be a good thing. 15 other cars would have me tearing out my hair. And the other big this is there is NO manual shifting! WHY? This is from IRacing! That's probably the biggest complaint I have. This game really needed a workshop to expand and even thrive. That is what I suggest to the devs. The bones are there, but not much meat. The community could have expanded it to bigger heights. Overall I just wish there was more to this game. More tracks, more cars, more championship events, more modes, more driving controls/aids and better AI. I do suggest this game for racers who enjoy offroad games with some challenge. The more powerful cars can test you if you turn the aids off on certain tracks, but there should have been more to keep a longer engagement. I like what the devs were trying to do, but they stopped WAY too soon. So yes, it's a decent/okay game, but only if it's heavily on sale. I give it a 5/10 only because there isn't more to it.

It's great under-rated game, so glad it didn't tried to be more. Works very well as chill game for steam deck, some driving, 3 cars to get used to, decent feeling from physics. Some tracks, maybe people want dozens of cars, but i'm fine with few. It's not silly arcade where you get away with everything, but is not too difficult simulation, something in between and for me it works perfectly. It can be driven well from steam deck, the FPS on its is very good, the deck's consumption is good as well, it's not some of the games which are verified on deck but even on lowest settings hit power limits of the deck, this runs well on deck. The physics balance reminds me slightly of colin dirt 2. People giving it negative reviews must have very different expectations, this is not yet another NFS title.

Overall a good arcade racing game that you can gel out to. A kick back and relax kind of racer that is not super serious even though this game is under iracing which as we know is a full fledge sim racing platform. Will say the whole iracing affiliation for exocross, i think gives people the assumption that this will be a sim style ordeal even thought it plainly is not if you watch the trailers for more than 5 seconds. Don't wanna give anyone the run around so going to say what i have to say straight to the point. People saying the handling is like "soup" or "driving on butter" just suck at the game and haven't bothered to play more than 15 min and actually learn the handling and get good at the game. 20 bucks full price as of july 2025 seems about right for all the content in the game, myself got it on sale for 4 bucks at that price no brainer. People in other reviews are complaining about lack of content and devs abandoning the game like they paid 60 bucks. Still better than The Crew cant even play that game so they at least did better than ubisoft. Sucks they didn't fully realize the game but prolly would have been like 70 bucks at that point. I'm a gearhead so my imagination is going nuts with this game giant off road tires with two vehicles having v8 engines and the third with a v10 devs were cooking. Scratches my scifi gearhead fantasy for sure. Graphics are pretty good can tell they spent some time making the game pleasing to the eyes. So far game is running at 180fps steady on my build. Ryzen 5 5600x, 32gb 3200mhz corsair ram, xfx rx7700xt gpu, msi b450m motherboard, samsung 990 evo plus 2tb ssd. So people that are having issues either suck at settings optimization or are gaming on a moldy potato they found in a couch cushion. Give the game a try you might be surprised plus no risk got 2 hours to play if not your speed you can get the refund. Overall fun game and negative reviewers cant play racing games so they gotta make themselves feel better somehow.

Good offroad racer with nice, fast and fluent graphics, good physics but only basic damage model (only tires get bad or fall off). It has a lot of potential for a great arcade racer, but only offers a hand full of tracks, dead online multiplayer und just 3 vehicle chassis which look almost the same. You can have some arcade offroad racing fun for somje hours, though. Runs flawlessly on Linux with standard Proton. Nice, but short.

This is by far THE best "fun" racer to come out in several years. Criminally underrated, the handling model is sublime. It's "realistic" feeling while being "not realistic" and it's just fun. This is the successor to the classic "Powerslide" game.
