Oh god, my first Dynasty Warriors game, brought back to life with better graphics... and all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ voice acting I remember. Don't buy the Deluxe edition, everything it offers can be obtained SUPER easy. This is including the item that increases officer merit gain. You can get that in the very first mission you play, if you know what you're doing.

Absolutely atrocious English voice acting, useless dead weight allies at hard and chaos, archers thinking they carry an AK-47 and just mow you down the moment you show an opening, cluttered as f*ck battlefield the moment you engage them. This is Dynasty Warriors 3, exactly how I remembered it. And I am 100% loving every single thing about it. To add a bit of context, originally I was skeptical at first after hearing the news about this game getting a remaster, as Dynasty Warriors 3 was one of the first game I ever played, back when I was still a toddler/child. It's also one of the games that aged so well for me, to the point that I would rather play this than Dynasty Warriors 4 and 5(not saying they're worse, but I can't help but always prefer 3 as I seen this game as the ultimate Musou experience). I was skeptical at first simply because this is the same developers of Dynasty Warriors 9, which is definitely a Warriors game of all time. Separate instance but I also remember not being fond of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black when it was released, as they basically made use of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2's code rather than the original(which is the superior version), although these are different developers, but my simpleton mind made me think these are the same companies that made the game. And boy am I glad I am wrong. I immediately bought the Deluxe version (cuz of the ps2 render skins) the moment I saw early access gameplay of it. It's literally just a pure remaster of Dynasty Warriors 3. Like literally, the moveset, the cutscenes, the atrocious voice acting, the difficulty progression, heck even the bugs are the same (example: Battle of Yiling at Shu's campaign, Sun Shangxiang should have the rage buff, but they gave it to the guard captain instead, which is hilarious, there's many more.) Modern Changes they did compared to the original: Obviously graphics Dynasty Warriors Origins' call horse (immediately change this setting at L2) Dynasty Warriors Origins' dash/dodge Counter (Yellow flash = counter with charge attack or musou, red flash = counter with musou, counter also works with just dashing in the right time) Camera That's basically it. So little changes yet these changes made this game an absolute blast to play on. And if you dislike these changes, you can you know. TOGGLE IT OFF? Like you can literally play this like the original(classic mode) if you really want to experience the original. Only thing you couldn't toggle is the graphics(duh) and the camera, but other than that, it's literally just the same thing as the original. Overall, if there's an award for the Best Remaster of the Year, it would definitely be this.

This game is my GTA 6! DW3 (三無双2) is the first game in the series I've ever played, and still play it from time to time. If Koei just rereleased the original game with higher resolution and camera controls, I would be happy. This is far better than I could've imagined, though there are still some points I didn't like. And how do I wish it was DW4 instead, literally my favorite game of all time. Positives: -No blue fart gas. -Basically same old game but with cool stuff from Origins. -New story content. -Each QoL improvements can be toggled on or off. I appreciate the recreation of the jankiness. -Improvements include camera controls, calling the horse, picking up items while mounted, dodge and counter attack. -Enemy archers can also be nerfed. -Horses can go up hills and stairs -New weapon fusion. I don't like the RNG on the original. -It uses the same checkpoint system from Origins. -All modes return. Versus, Challenge, and even Opening Edit. -Splitscreen. -Good old movesets. It's awesome to have Gan Ning, Zhou Yu, Wei Yan, and others, back! -It might just be me, but I'm a fan of unlocking characters. I was sure they would unlocked from the get go. -All the original roster is playable, including Fu Xi and Nuwa. -Second colors are included. -Ziluan is also playable, which I personally don't care. The more, the merrier, I guess. -There are less stages compared to modern titles, so each one feels more iconic and unique. -I really like the sandbox feel of the old games. You can just rush straight to the boss, for instance. -Regular troops will stun and combo you. -Banger OST. "Arena" is so good, it's still used to this day. -Even cutscenes are recreated faithfully. -Performance seems to be better than Origins. I can play it at 60fps on the Xbox Ally X. -Jiggle physics. Negatives: -No online at launch. -No Yuanji (understandable. But someone, please, mod her in) :( -Discarding weapons should be possible on the upgrade or equipment screens. -Some characters have uncanny faces. -Generic officers and troops don't use their original designs. They were 10x better than the current ones. -I wish enemy officers healing was a toggle. -Loading screens are not interactable. -I know they're not in the original, but I miss charge aerial attacks. -There are less stages compared to modern titles, so it gets repetitive when clearing all stories. -Because of the render distance and faster movement, stages feel quite small. -No love for Empires fans. (Can we get a character creator instead of Ziluan?) -Half a year delay from the original schedule. Here's coping that DW4 will be remade someday. Imo it has a better story mode, movesets, stages, and OST. And don't even get me started on 1v1 duels, character creator, 5 altenate costumes, weapon levels, Zhou Tai... And please, stop trying to push Ziluan down my throat. I'm already sick of him. He'll somehow return in Origins 2, right?

TL;DR just like the ps2 version but improved graphics and gameplay that you can turn off. Oh man. This game is a blast from the past. It was my 2nd ps2 game and I enjoyed it. It’s exactly as I remember it when I was a kid. But with improvements. This remastered added quality of life gameplay features. Helps improve the game. Like dodging and countering enemies attacks so you can get out of getting you butt beat by 4 officers. It has checkpoints now. So if you’re 30 minutes into a match, and happened to get shot by a arrow, (the bane of my existence of playing Dynasty warrior games) you can choose a checkpoint instead of redoing 30 minutes of game play. The graphics is lovely. It’s not going to blow your mind away or be as good as the last game. But it does the job. The clothing and hair moves around a bit now. From what I can hear, they got back a lot of the old VA from the original game. They try to keep the dialogue as cheesy as the original one. They even have the one guy yell out “you flaming idiot” in the same tone too. Most of the female actresses sound different though. Maybe because they gotten older or just got another few ladies to do the voices. For better or worse. Don’t expect any good storytelling in the game. If you played any Warriors games. You already know what to expect. If you didn’t like any of the warriors games. Don’t get it. You not going to like this. If you want to go back to nostalgic road. Get it. It’s just like how you mostly remember it. Just improve gameplay mechanics. If you don’t like the improvements. You can turn it off to get the raw DW 3 experience how it was on the ps2. If you a fan of the DW games and want to see where it all officially started, (we don’t talk about 2) this is the game for you. I say it worth the full price.
