if you like rocket jumping or surfing in a valve game, you'll probably enjoy it for that reason alone. you do a lot of moving super fast and you have a good selection of weapons to cycle between. you basically explore a huge map and kill bots of various sizes while you're clip farming. it's insane dopamine this game is crack for the movement players, it feels like you're a tbsp of butter and the map is a hot pan the size of your living room. playing trolldier on TF2 after a session of EPN leads to some of the most insane improv jumps i've ever hit. i've joined casual lobbies and it almost feels like a low grav server. i liked reading the developer notes during UTC, lots of good insight in there :) the music is absolutely banging!!! the perks are so much fun Market Gardener + Kills Refill Jump is busted Rocket Start and Hover Dash are a must have the setting in Accesibility called "Auto Swap On Empty" is a better version of the perk Gun Game... that setting should be advertised once you unlock a weapon for every slot Rogue gamemode is lots of fun! you can cheese it by activating multiple stacks of Quickstart after completing a few scans at the lower difficulty... dunno if that was intended or not ===== complaints: i want to preface with: i really did enjoy my time playing this game, the things i'm going to rant about are minor, the game is still overall insanely good, but i did have a few complaints. they are like My opinion so you may have a different experience. - flipping had perks that made it super good but it gave me a headache. i turned it off pretty early on, but once i beat the echo point nova map, i thought about turning it back on. couldn't figure it out, and googling something that i didn't really want to fix felt counter intuitive so i never turned it back on. I actually found it while writing this review, it's in Camera settings?? it can stay there but it should definitely be in Gameplay settings as well. - getting weapon masteries was a pain in the ass, i ended up playing endless scan mode and had to grind for a solid hour to get the remaining ones... all things considered, it was not a huge time investment to clean up. i wish there was a bit more content to explore while doing the masteries, i was trying to find arenas with good perks for the weapons i needed to finish (like a shotgun only arena with infinite ammo). a search feature for specific arena types could've been nice. Probably should've tried out the workshop maps, never got around to it. - UTC's underwater movement was kinda frustrating, the mines should've had a maximum chase distance instead of forcing you to keep moving or waste ammo breaking them. the OceanGate submarine that spawns mines was extra annoying. - UTC: Aquatic Arena was the most agonizing arena to play on. unashamed to state that arena took me dozens of tries to beat, i constantly ran out of ammo and had to play super defensively to beat the default scan. ironically the bonus scan was extremely easy, it took one try with ease.

You're given an open world chain of floating islands, a set of speedy traversal mechanics, about two dozen modern firearm archetypes, and an ambient/D&B soundtrack. It's all it is, and it's more than you need. FPS bliss.

it has genuinely been such a long time since a first person shooter has made me feel this way. i had almost given up on the genre. severed steel and now echo point nova is such an amazing one-two punch. i shall be watching your career with great interest, greylock studio.

Unfortunately had to request a refund. The game looks really nice, the movement is excellent, but the auto-aim has a horrible implementation. I have hand tremors and in a game like this, auto aim is almost necessary. But the awful camera snapping and generally strict aim assist makes it feel more like I have aimbot, which obviously makes the game feel really bad. I would recommend a system like in Ultrakill, where the aim assist can be set from 0% to 100%.
