It has been a while since I played this game, but I enjoyed my time on it :) It is a fantasy 4x game but with a lot of asymetrical mechanics between the factions. Also, this is not the cookie cutter fantasy world. It has its own unique feel. Mechanically, the game is strong if difficult to learn. It may take a while to do that but it is an enjoyable process. The various DLC adds many interesting mechanics like eclipse that temporarly change the game, sea mechanics and espionage. Highly recommended. And please do leave a review if you liked this game so the devs can get their croissants :)
Switch to high resolution UI in the settings - Suitable for genre noobs - Not the most modern, but manageable - Not forcing you to know the lore or whatever - Do not auto-battle, go manual, it's good So, the game is simple and a banger at the same time. A lot of tiny things to account for, a lot of minor details that make the whole picture. I was planning to check it for like 10 minutes and instantly got hooked for almost two hours. Wiped a few civilization for fun and power, saved some random savages since they offered a good quest to collaborate on.
Endless Legend is part of the Endless universe, but unlike Endless Space, it leans heavily into fantasy rather than pure sci-fi. That works well. Why? On the world of Auriga, different factions fight for dominance, and advanced tech often feels more like magic or ancient relics. Each faction plays very differently, which keeps things fresh, and the dynamic winters add an extra strategic layer that makes the gameplay more interesting. The game is played on a hex grid, and both the visuals and soundtrack are excellent. That said, it’s starting to show its age a bit, especially when it comes to the menu and user interface. In my opinion, it’s still very playable today. 5 out of 5 Necrophages
