Escape Dead Island is a spin-off project set on a smaller island in close proximity to the outbreak on Banoi. You play through the story as Cliff, who slowly loses his sanity as the story progresses. In terms of genre, it’s a wild psychological adventure game with a smidge of horror. The game sports a jaw-dropping art style and an excellently optimized experience on the Bitsquad engine, now known as Autodesk Stingray. Bitsquad was an in-house-developed game engine by Swedish studio Fatshark, which later sold the engine to American software company Autodesk in 2014. Under Autodesk, the engine continued to deliver great gaming experiences, including the Helldivers titles by Arrowhead Studios. With the funds made from Bitsquad’s sale, along with the development of Escape Dead Island for Deep Silver, Fatshark was able to fully fund and publish its first game, “Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide,” and has found great success continuing to develop games within the Warhammer Universe, which has now become the studio’s bread and butter. Fatshark is a fine example of a studio with a dream that started from nothing and built its empire from honesty, wise decisions, and hard work. Here in 2026, the game is still a worthy purchase at the Steam price of £13 and still looks quite stunning to the eyes at times. 8/10

Despite the negative reviews and low scores, I actually had a lot of fun playing this game. There is a good balance of stealth and combat. It's got a lot of pick ups and some good achievements too. I think the story is pretty good and the graphics aren't amazing but they are unique and look good. It's not entirely linear either. There are a lot of little spots to explore and some side trails to go down. If you like a more casual game with a decent challenge and some action, this is a good game for cheap on sale. I also enjoyed the tropical setting and the ending was cool.

I don't Really Canon this game because Our guy over here is stuck in the Infinite Loop of Killing of the Undead. But Gameplay is very unique tho I will say that Dude. Also Xian Mei have massive Bakery down there tho.
