100% Achievement Review: A quick review based on my experience completing all the (available) achievements. Title: Flower Summary: Relaxing story game Personal notes: Flower is a cute and relaxing game where you take control of a flower petal flying through the wind in various lush environments. This was my first play-through and I thought it was pretty solid overall. The story has no narrative but is more of a emotional journey that uses the environment and events that transpire to tell a story, thus leaving meaning up to interpretation. I personally enjoyed the more or less silent adventure and thought it was a good choice for this games tone. Game-play wise this game is very simple, consisting of flying around blooming other flowers or interacting with various things in the environment such as turning on windmills. Talking about environment, the art design of this game is very well done making up some beautiful albeit short levels. The levels themselves are very distinct and unique which is also nice. Unfortunately the controls for this game, at least on the PC port, are pretty difficult to get to work how you want despite being pretty simple. My only complaint other than the un-cooperative controls would be how short this game is. You can probably beat all the levels in under an hour if you aren't exploring/going for achievements. Achievement wise this game is quite simple but a handful of achievements take a decent amount of time such as blooming 10,000 flower. The only achievement that I had difficulty with was Pure, which requires a hit-less run on the last level. All things considered this game is a relaxing yet short game with beautiful graphic design mixed with sub-par controls. I recommend this game to those who enjoy slower games such as walking sims or if you love flowers lol. I would most likely wait for a sale otherwise. Time it took to complete: 4hrs Most difficult achievement(s): - Dream (Beyond all flowers lies another room) - Nature (Bloom 10,000 flowers) - Pure (Journey to the city unscathed) Difficulty rating: ★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ 3/10 Overall rating: ★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆ 5/10

I bought Flower because it was on sale and I figured it was, you know, a game. Turns out it’s more of a lifestyle choice. There are no enemies. You just float around as the wind collecting flowers like you’re doing yard work for nature itself. At some point I realized I was trying really hard to make a “good” gust of wind and that’s when I knew something had gone wrong. The game looks nice and the music is relaxing, which is dangerous because it tricks you into caring. I caught myself thinking, “wow, that field looks great now.” Why. Why do I care about a field. Finished the game feeling calm, peaceful, and slightly confused about who this was for. I usually play games to yell at my monitor, not to achieve inner balance. Would recommend if you want to turn your brain off and vibe for a couple hours. Would not recommend if you expect literally anything to happen. Overall: solid wind experience.

A long time ago, when consoles were still relevant, I bought a PS3 to play all the PS3 and console exclusives. I think I got Flower for free after that Sony hacking debacle in 2011, and really liked it, you could see that something special was coming from these guys. And it did, Journey was great. This is a very pretty and relaxing game. Best grass I have ever seen :D Mechanics are basic, but that's not really the point of the game. A note for Deck users, you'll find some issues like no sound or game crashing. Just switch to Proton 8.0-5 and you're good to go.

Holy moly. This is the first time I've played a type of game that one can "beat" in a sitting. I'm hooked. I get it now. This is what a true indie experience is like. Also, Vincent Diamante, you are a MUSICAL GENIUS. How to review, wow, uh... I never get feelings in games. I had many feelings in this game. It's short, probably just under 2hr for a first playthrough. I did need to use a controller on PC because I could not steer anything with the keyboard/mouse combo. This game will suck you in and make you care about this tiny little thing and the responsibility you come to understand you have been given. I'm rambling, none of this makes sense until you play it. Do yourself a favor and play this game. It it's under $10 it's a worthy use of your income if you have enough to spend on games, which if you're here I hope you do. I'm going to have to sit with this a while. I wish I hadn't waited 4 years with this purchased and in my backlog. I wasted so much time that should have been getting into more games like this. Even the credits, wow, I have never read every name in the credits until now.

I've never owned a Playstation, and my attempt at playing the PC version of this classic (from 2009!) a couple of years ago left me unimpressed. Maybe I was in the wrong kind of mood, more likely the old non-gaming laptop I was using back then ruined some of the fun. Currently on a quest for spring-themed games, I gave it another try and was pleasantly surprised. I really liked the first few chapters. They were beautiful (although the first one was a bit Windows XP desktop ), relaxing, with pleasant music and satisfying sound effects. I imagine it would have been more fun if there was a speed between almost idling and so fast I had trouble hitting the flowers, but oh well. We started getting wind power plants, fair enough. It got dark, still interesting and a bit nice to spread lights. Then there was one dark and dramatic chapter with lightning, screen shake, uncomfortable sound effects, and only the latter could be turned off. Not what I thought I bargained for. Obviously it got brighter again, but in a bland urban space. The ending was a bit meh too imo, though achievements indicate there might be something more. I only got one achievement by "accident" and have no idea what some of them are about. The port has been criticised a lot (it's what caused most of the negative review). It seemed to work ok for me, even on Linux with Proton, but as mentioned I don't have the original experience to compare it with. All that talk about how "moving" this game is though, that it "stir the soul" and is "an incredibly personal and emotional experience"? I honestly don't even know what it is that should have made me so emotional. With all the peaceful landscape experiences you can get in games nowadays, this one seems a bit overrated by today's standards. Or maybe I just don't get it. Recommended mostly for the first chapters, and I guess as a piece of video game history that inspired other relaxing games. * * * If you like chill and story-driven games, check out my curator [url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/35872486]Peaceful Adventures and Stories .
