I'm a simple woman. If I see wallruns, double jumps and mid air dashes, I'm sold. The faster the gameplay, the more relaxed I am and immediately get into a flow state where killing enemies becomes a habit like breathing. I'm pretty confident and have kind of a god complex when it comes to fast-paced shooters, but Ghostrunner really gets me grounded. Whenever I play Ghostrunner, it reminds me that I'm just a simple woman sucking at its gameplay. It's fast, it's chaotic, it's unforgiving. And I really love the game for that. 90% of the time you spend running on a wall or dashing through the air and that's exactly where I wanna be in a videogame. I just hope none of my friends will ever check the leaderboard and see how often I bit the blade. Absolute recommendation for anyone who loves high-speed gameplay, one-hit-death mechanics and has a frustration tolerance made of steel. You will die. A lot. And you will love it.
Certainly worth a playthrough but really not anything too special. First off I want to mention a huge flaw with this game almost nobody seems to be talking about: YOU CANNOT SAVE THE GAME MID LEVEL Keep in mind these levels easily take 20-40 minutes on a first playthrough... This alone makes the game significantly worse for me. The music is great, the story is pretty entertaining (architect voice actor carries it hard), the game looks pretty good, and crucially the gameplay itself is fun throughout most of the game. Personally I would definitely have preferred a more parkour centric design as I enjoy that kind of game, but this is still fine even though the wall running mechanic is basically all there is to it here. Even Doom Eternal has more fun 3d platforming if you ask me... However the gameplay flow here of jumping around dodging and killing enemies is fun in its own right for sure (although it does get a bit stale by the end of a playthrough because despite the added enemy types and abilities it doesn't really change all too much). As a huge fan of Mirrors Edge I was expecting to like this more, but it was for sure still a fun time aside from my gripes, and a bargain on sale
i like this game and the same time i don't what i like: *combat skills *adrenaline vibe *parkour *enemies styles *bosses what i DO not like is: *hitboxes *perfect timing *getting one shot by one last enemy and restart pretty annoying *the katana guys are most annoying to parry you have to perfectly parry it or die *eye straining i like the game and i already finished it so was it fun? yes play it again? no
