NOT the masterpiece it tries to be. The superb art direction is the spotlight of a point'n click full of flaws : too much chat at the service of an unclear story, enigmas too easy, the few interesting puzzles are wasted by obvious clues (almost walkthroughs). Even the game last 14 hours, you won't be entitled to a real ending, because the vague story is supposed to be solved in a sequel... that will never happen. Still there's qualities : it's beautifuly cartoonish ; the makers made big effort in it ; it's in Lovecraft universe. I wanted interesting enigmas, simpler and better written story, a real ending. If I could, I would rate : "meh". As I can't, I still recommand it for a warned and niche audience.

Beautiful, very well animated, with decent voice acting, great music, looks amazing in an ultrawide monitor... and yet it is not too enjoyable. There is almost a different text for every combination of objects, but the characters are just not appealing at all. There is a talking cat, but the talking cat is unbearable. There are many inventory objects but they feel like a chore. Very much on the fence with this one, so I leave this a bare recommendation just to appreciate the effort that went into it. On the other hand this makes me appreciate the Deponia games even more - they are more difficult, characters are meaner, the signposts are not there and yet they are more fun to go through. I just think there is a disconnect between the pace of the puzzles and the story and worldbuilding, as if the parts that get you stuck feel like filler.

Overall Gibbous is a very solid point-and-click adventure game. Its best features are the first rate 2-D graphics and voice acting -- some of the best you'll experience in an independently made game like this. I also found most of the dialog amusing, although it can verbose in areas. For me, the major downside was the story. I prefer more serious adventure games, and Gibbous was a little too silly for my tastes. The storytelling isn't very smooth and some of the supporting characters (most notably the villains) are barely developed. In the end, I didn't find the story that involving, although I did enjoy the chemistry between the main protagonist and his cat. Lots of puzzles in this one, most of them easy but a handful are quite challenging. If you like comedic adventure games like Monkey Island, this is definitely worth a try. 7/10.

turly a hidden gem, i just bought this because i wanted to play a Deponia-esque game again and i was more than pleasantly surprised! i loved the two characters you get to play, as well as the cat of course, i really enjoyed the dialogue and the humour and all i can really say is thank you "stuck in attic" for this great game, i couldn't stop playing it!

Gibbous – A Cthulhu Adventure is a point-and-click adventure that blends Lovecraftian horror with sharp humor, charming characters, and beautifully hand-drawn art. The voice acting is top-notch, and the puzzles are well-designed, challenging without being frustrating. I spent about 10 hours with it and was entertained from start to finish. If you enjoy witty point-and-click adventures, this one is worth playing.
