When will it be finished? Shori could walk faster. Better labels for each of the areas on the map would be helpful. Enjoyed it but I won't play again until it's finished AND it's the last time I buy an Early Access game. Why pay full price or more for half a game? Good job so far!
For version 0.6.11.0001: While still in early access, Glimmer in Mirror is already worth your time. Pro: - It has a very pretty look and feel to it. - Interesting story - Not too complicated mechanics Cons: - Combat does feel a bit too simple until later in the game. - While is is a Metroidvania, there is not that much exploring to be had (yet), but looking at the current map and some of the secrets I found there is some decent potential. - Some parts that are not translated yet (the elevator near the end confused me a bit at first, but not game-breaking) Took me about 10 hours to complete this version as a casual player on normal. Looking forward to the full release.
Overall, the game has a great base, music, and art, while the combat still feels a little lacking. I can't stress enough how enjoyable the experience still was regardless of that, since most of the game is exploring. I think my only two real complaints are the lack of a dash, and a better double jump. The current second jump can only barely get you to where you need to, and it's very difficult to dodge attacks in fights, especially bosses, while having such little mobility. Again, overall, a great time, and I can't wait to see the rest of the game, I just think the combat could use some refinement. Most bosses are just spamming and hoping you have enough health to outlast them. The basic attack could probably be fixed with either a max fire rate and a fix to the auto-aim, or adding in some sort of damage increases like the health and meter. The arrow attack should also charge a little faster, as I immediately forgot about it.
I enjoyed the time I put in this game so far, but I don't think this would be an instant buy at full price. There are a few problems that made me went from "get this now" to "wait for a bit more". The combat in this game is very rough. My biggest problem with it is how much aerial combat is there in the game. Most of the bosses in the EA build requires you to jump and shoot at the same time. Shooting requires you to press X while jumping is pressing A, so it gets awkward when you try to use charged attacks while jumping as you have to keep your thumb holding X while also trying to press A with the same finger. There is no keybinding for controllers yet, so you cannot use the triggers or shoulder buttons as shooting to solve this issue. I'm on the verge of dropping the game when fighting against the second and fourth boss of this game because of how much aerial combat they require with the kind of controls this game has. For the love of god, please make a map that provides information to the player. This game's map layout is pretty, but it doesn't tell me where the save points are, if there are items I missed or places that I cannot go there yet for now. It gets frustrating to backtrack when the map doesn't tell me much about what's inside it. The story is captivating to make me want to continue playing once they update the build, and I do enjoy the music. I sincerely hope they fix the problems I have with the game. It's still an early access, so things will improve over time.
Gorgeously looking game with the combat being ok-ish, but nothing special, you can clearly feel the early access here, so if you are looking for lots of content then you maybe better try other options, but as something just visually stunning with platforming - pretty good. As developer does seem to be active you can expect the stuff to become better and the overall game to evolve and I hope they will do something regarding the map as I think the map lost its purpose of being a map somewhere in the development.
