I have mixed feelings about this game. Yet, I had my share of fun with the game, so I recommend it for this price tag. (+) The Brotato Inventory Puzzle Roguelite mix is a nice idea. At its core, it is working. And it allows for various strategies. Nice feel and solid basis! (-) Unpolished all over the place: awful controller support (aim with RS, dash with A, no new bindings allowed; UX in the menu is incomplete and inconsistent), bugs, wrong descriptions; bad readability of the game state, esp. when the screen is filled with creeps (--) Bad balancing all over the place. The first playthrough was frustratingly hard, and the second one was game-breakingly imba strong. Difficulty tiers barely matter at all. 95% of the items can be ignored. 95% of the characters and classes can be ignored. Once you identify one or two game breaking imba strategies, you can very reliably go for them all the time and beat the game at ease. The meta-progression is neither needed nor relevant. There are dozens of issues with the balance, but the imba strategies ultimately break the game for me. I had my fun figuring them out. But then I literally fell asleep while playing, as the game becomes an idle game, where standing still and rolling for the certain items in the store become the core activities. Turned from a fun thing into a mindless time wasting machine. Not tempted to buy the DLC to have "more of" anything. This game needs a fundamental rebalancing more than additional content. Even the base game feels like Brotato, but with too many imba mods turned on. Anyway, thanks for the initial hours of fun. Nice game idea!
It's a fun bullet heaven with a fairly unique inventory mechanic. Difficulty scales fairly and each class does play in its own unique and enjoyable way. Unless you're looking to complete all of the achievements, you can probably skip the DLC as it adds a layer of unneeded complexity to the game without providing all that much additional depth.
As many have said, it feels most like Brotato with inventory management (and a medieval fantasy theme). Having played many games in this genre, I found this particularly engaging, to the point that I was motivated to complete the game with every character on the highest difficulty, even after finishing the achievements.
