First of all, let me first say that this is not a game, therefore I will rate it as such. Edit, I'll leave the old review as is, but there's an update to the software that I want to share before you read on. The software has a discord server with a bug forum attached. When I reported the weird aspect ratio, I might not have received a definitive answer: "We'll fix it". HOWEVER. With the latest update, they fixed the aspect ratio issue. Now, monitors come in 16:9 versions. Which makes me happy. You should be happy too. Now you can get the software and properly load all your screenshots into a really nice photo wall. I have a few issues with the software, all of which are pretty minor and can be either avoided, or aren't major enough to warrant me to not recommend the software. So what is gogh primarily? - > Second monitor content. Its basically a custom version of your own lofi girl/chilledcow stream that you can customize to fit your desired look. The artstyle is very unique and adorable, the models, while lower in polygons, are very well done. The user interface is intuitive and straightforward with lots of ways to customize your room. You can even add your own images onto photos or monitors but more on that later. The music is standard lofi music, which is to say pleasant and non obstrusive. You can even add extra sounds such as rain or the clicking of someone else typing on their mechanical keyboard. Very well done overall. If these were the only features, I'd say that it has its niche and some people might enjoy playing around with it for a bit and that, to those people, this software would be worth it. Which is to say, it has other qualities that I personally value even more than the rest: Tools for productivity. I mentioned that this software is second monitor content. The best way to engage with Gogh is to put it on your second screen while doing something productive like writing a boot, studying, coding or anything that isn't leasure things like gaming or watching movies, simply because of something I will touch on later. The software provides you with simple tools like a promodomo timer, allowing you to set interval timers so you can in theory go for 25 minutes of studying and 5 minutes of break time over and over until you completed your task. Tasks? Yes, you also have a checklist that you can add and check off points on. Everything you'd need to keep to a strickt schedule is there. Schedule? Yeah, you got that too. You can also have a little calendar in which you can mark when you did things so you can keep track of your own progress. There is even more than that in the software, but so far, I haven't engaged with the camera mode or poses much. Mostly because I primarily use it as my jukebox, timer and organizer. Now onto the bad. The software takes up a lot of resources. How many? So many that my work laptop cannot handle it with an i7 alongside the rest of the software it needs to run like Visual Studio. The GPU requirement also worries me a little bit. A GTX 1060 as the recommended GPU for perspective is still good enough to play things like Monster Hunter World. Let's not talk about the RAM. This software will actively cost you energy, which is to say, its not too big of an issue, but I don't think the software would need these resources with everything thats going on. All of this is a worrying trend in video games lately. Which is to say, my PC at home doesn't have any issues running the software while also having far more demanding things running alongside it including full games, Godot and an overtabbed firefox. So with a dedicated GPU, it works flawlessly. Integrated will see issues if you need to do dev work though, so be weary of that. And now for my biggest gripe with the entire software. You have the option of using your own images. The monitors look like 16:9. However, as I confirmed with the developers, somewhere, a designer went for 21:10 instead for the selectable aspect ratio for images. This is weird and completely removes my ability to create a mirror look for my Gogh room but alas, it is what is it. Should you get gogh? Maybe. If you want to get somewhere in life while also appearing busy on steam so people don't message you? Yes. Go for it. You can alternatively open up 2 browser tabs for 1, the promodomo timer that is freely available on your browser (Just gotta sell your soul to ad platforms, go ahead do it!) and 2 the lofi girl stream of your choice. But let's say you wanted to test the software out first. Gogh has an android version you can download for free. See if that works for you. If it does, great. If it doesn't, I'ma say that 12€ really isn't a lot of money. Heck, Oppenheimer cost me 13€ to buy the blue ray for. I have yet to watch the movie, but I'll get more value from Gogh than Oppenheimer. And to the devs. Please add a checkbox that allows me to select 16:9 images for my monitors. Thats all I'm asing for at this point. Also for the Tux chills out there. Works with Proton. Only thing that I found to not be working was the virtual camera, but I cannot rule out OBS to be at fault for this.

I think one thing this game really should have is Workshop (or external mod) support! Other than that, it's a pretty nifty lil 'game'.

Gogh has completely transformed my work sessions into something I actually look forward to! The blend of productivity tools with cozy gaming elements is genius. Creating my personalized anime-style avatar and decorating my virtual room became an unexpected joy - I spent way too much time picking out the perfect desk setup and wall art (but in the best way possible). The Pomodoro timer feels less tedious when your cute avatar is there shifting between work and break modes alongside you. I particularly love the atmospheric touches - the lofi beats from Japanolofi Records mixed with the ASMR-like sounds of typing and page-turning create this perfect focus bubble. What really keeps me coming back is watching my quirky companion evolve as I check off tasks. It turns productivity into this rewarding little adventure. At $11.99, it's an absolute steal for something that makes getting things done feel less like work and more like self-care. If you're looking to make your focus sessions more enjoyable, this cozy blend of utility and charm is absolutely worth picking up!

I like it quite a bit so far. I have ADHD and find this sort of thing helpful. I'm just gonna structure this in a simple way: pros, cons, and suggestions for improvement. Pros: +Cute! +Some bangin' tunes. +RAIN SOUNDS. This is a big one for me - I'm the kind of person who finds rain sounds super helpful for focus. +The ability to import images/GIFs for posters, screens, etc. is really fun and lends itself to customization. +Room decorating is fun and they give you quite a bit of freedom. (More on this in Cons, though.) +I like the story/lore bits, reminds me a bit of "Livly Island" in how it frames the player as a kind of researcher, an active participant in something. Basically, in gogh you're enrolled in a program where you get to take care of an alien called Kuroda42 as it grows up. Kuroda42 likes helping people focus or something like that. It's cute - not very fleshed out as far as I can tell so far, but it's a nice touch. Cons: -Avatar/furniture options are in a weird spot right now. You have enough items that it doesn't feel barren, but it's still pretty limited, since they mostly fit a specific "cute" style. It's a bit more difficult to express yourself in a different style. -Color picking is baaad, but other people have already elaborated on this and it's on the roadmap to be fixed. -Furniture placement can be tough. It's not like the Sims or Animal Crossing where you have limited slots for what you can put on a table, for instance. You can go off-grid, stack as many things on the table as you want, rotate freely (not just by 45 degree increments), etc. It's a lot of freedom, and I personally like it, but I could see other people not liking it because it's so touchy. -I can understand clothing clipping through other clothing, but it's a problem when sometimes the character's skin can clip through the clothing. -IDK if it's just my system or something but sometimes the blinking animation is messed up and the eyelashes pass over the eyes. -They haven't really made the VPet aspect very interesting, and it doesn't really feel integrated with the focus aspect of it. -My biggest gripe: not a lot a lot of productivity features. The to-do list, for example, is very simple and it feels uncomfortable to have more than like 3 items on it at a time. Don't expect to do any longterm planning with this. Suggestions: -More productivity features could be nice. Some examples: better to-do lists, a calendar, maybe even a journal? Honestly, the development roadmap seems focused on adding more customization features, which I do want, but I hope the productivity aspect of the game isn't neglected. -The ability to upload images/patterns to some clothes the same way you can with some furniture. -More facial features like mouths and brows! Should you get it? If you like "body doubling" as a focus strategy or just want a custom "lo-fi girl" for your PC, I think it's pretty good, especially for the price tag. Hopefully it continues to improve. If you just want an avatar creator and room designer, I would say wait - these features are OK at the moment but leave a lot to be desired still. Overall I'm having fun and getting stuff done!
