My wife stumbled on this and we both immediately downloaded it, so happy it exists!! We are longtime fans of Blue Turtle, the beautiful environments and relaxing music have basically become our living room's permanent ambiance. We have our favorites downloaded as video files because YouTube is a pain in the butt for that kind of thing, so you can imagine how thrilled we were to come across this game with tons of new landscapes, travel mode, cute little Elementals, and all kinds of other goodies. Hoping we get the snowed-in seaside cottage for the next winter update!

This game has been such an amazing study and general life companion for me. The visuals of the game and the overall fantasy world building are soso cozy and immersive. The different locations are so peaceful and the sunset has been so great for my seasonal depression. I also love to turn on the "travel mode" while I study so whenever my focus drifts, I can look at what location my character is at now and it's just really nice to have throughout the day. The productivity tools in this game are also surprisingly really well thought out and the journal + calendar functions are probably what keeps me coming back because I love the feeling of progression and being able to see what I accomplished each day. And of course, I lovee the ability to decorate my little room at home too, it's been a great source of motivation to focus/study so that I can get coins to buy different furnitures and outfits. Overall, I love this game so much and hope the devs will continue to add new items, locations, and music in the future!

A friend of mine here on Steam asked me the other day whether those productivity tools really help, or if they just end up being another source of distraction. And honestly, he’s got a point there. Let’s be real, there’s no need to sugarcoat anything. Especially when it comes to productivity apps, you don’t need to buy anything for that on Steam. Most of that stuff exists outside of Steam anyway, often for free and some of it is actually pretty cool and genuinely helpful. But it ultimately depends on what you’re looking for and what you need. And let’s be honest: when it comes to productivity, the truly essential factors lie elsewhere, far beyond what any Steam software can offer. Depending on your goal - for me, it’s the creative field, you need clear structure, mental resilience and a conscious balance between passion and self-care. So before you grab a productivity tool, ask yourself a few questions: Are you sleeping well and enough, or is there room for improvement? Because lack of sleep is poison for creativity and decision-making. Do you already have a clear vision and know how to set priorities? How well does your self-reflection work? Regular check-ins with yourself - what’s working, what’s stressing you out, what’s motivating you, are essential to stay on track. And what about exercise and nutrition? We often sit all day while working or repeat the same tiny motions over and over, and much of it is mentally draining. That’s why it’s not just about moving for the sake of it, your body needs balance just as much as your mind does, so staying active and eating well really matter. Of course, there are plenty of other points I could mention, but I don’t want to write a whole book here like titled “How the FLUFF Do I Actually Reach My Goals.” In short, people have different needs and ways of functioning and depending on your life situation, something might be helpful… or absolutely not. In my case, I don’t really need any of these so-called productivity games. I function in my own way, one that’s always kept me moving forward. But I just love testing these things inside and out. What interests me most is usually the sound design and music choices, though I also like to analyze the whole package. About ten years ago, I actually had an idea for a piece of software meant to help people get through tough times or challenging tasks, complete with a selection of calming or inspiring music. I think I’ve tried around twenty of these productivity games by now, and most of them just don’t come close to what I imagined they could achieve. Some of them are just replicas of replicas, trying to squeeze money out of you with all their DLCs. That said, Ithya: Magic Studies does follow that now-typical image that originally started with the character Shizuku from Whisper of the Heart, but at least it brings a bit of fresh air to it. Ithya: Magic Studies pulls you in with its beautifully animated, hand-drawn backgrounds and scenes, like walking through a forest while hearing the birds sing and the wind rustling through the leaves, or sitting by a stream/river, or spending the night by a campfire in the mountains, or relaxing at a beach to the sound of the waves. When you need it, you can set up a to-do list with main and side quests, use a timer, stopwatch or Pomodoro with different alarm sounds, or take advantage of a calendar with a journal, daily or weekly planner, habit tracker or notebook. The Travel Mode automatically cycles through various magical scenes, perfect for longer focus sessions when you want some visual variety. Your home and character can be also customized a little bit, maybe not enough for some, but just right for me. And since the game takes place in a fantastical and mystical world where you’re an apprentice mage, the music is designed to match that atmosphere. It’s a bit unfortunate that the Dev didn’t dare to skip the usual Lo-Fi stuff, or stick only to Medieval-Style Lo-Fi tracks, which would have fit the setting much better. It’s also frustrating that a few tracks completely break your concentration or relaxation because they’re so wild and over the top, with chaotic orchestral parts clashing with metal-style drumming. That might work for a “clean your apartment” app, but it doesn’t belong here. Back again and looking at the Medieval Lo-Fi folder with its 14 tracks, unfortunately the quality is very inconsistent. Some tracks have uneven mixing, overdriven kicks and recycled patterns that feel almost like fast-food production. The other Lo-Fi folder is better produced, but it only partly fits the overall mood. The music by Christopher Carlone, Brombear, Holland Albright and Daniel Carl on the other hand, is of noticeably higher quality and fits the setting really well. The rest is sadly very generic, sometimes with mixing or production flaws, and a few artists of them rely heavily on ugly AI-generated artwork. I have no idea how to pronounce it properly, maybe I-thia, maybe I-tia. I did a little digging and even though the name is rare, it shows up in Malaysia and India and apparently it’s associated with open-mindedness, creativity and spiritual depth, and those are associations I’m very happy with. One more thing, and an important one: Ithya: Magic Studies runs pretty light on resources and just for that, plus the pretty artwork, it gets a thumbs up.

Extremly great for thesis writing and studying. Ofc, it would be amazing to in the future have added scences and achievements, and maybe a vendor or some in-world interaction? As well, building a custom playlist would be recommended. The focus, to offer a multitude of peaceful nature backdrops and tunes, was done perfectly! So as a background and productivity tool for studying, Ithya: Magic Studies does it all!
