Wow, what an amazing game. It captures that same sense of joy and excitement I felt playing Demon’s Souls, but fully immersive in VR. ​I really appreciated the freedom of customization. Instead of being stuck with specific stats mid-game, Grimlord lets you experiment with different builds. This is a welcome change from the Souls series, which tends to lock you into a path early on. ​The combat is awesome and encourages the use of real-world techniques. My only minor gripe is the weapon-dropping mechanic when facing repeated attacks; comparing it to Legendary Tales, which rewards successive parries and ripostes, Grimlord feels a bit more punishing in that specific area. That said, the overall experience is still incredibly enjoyable. ​My one complaint is that while using the PSVR2 on PC, I experienced a fair amount of crashes. I recognize that the game isn't fully optimized for the PSVR2 given its niche status on PC, but it would be great to see some stability fixes. ​Ultimately, I highly recommend Grimlord to any Souls fan, HEMA enthusiast, or VR lover

If you want to play this game and enjoy it, you need to understand how the weapons work, how physics work, and you have to actually learn how to parry, dodge, and hit weak spots on enemies. This game starts pretty slow but once you're hooked you won't have any complaints. Before this review I didn't like the game, and I put a bad review, but if you're only 1-2 hours into the game, give it another chance. This game has great potential.

So far having a great time! The combat strikes a nice balance of "Gamey" and physics based. Parries feel satisfying to pull off, and the weapon variety is pretty decent. The crafting system helps a lot with that. The world and mechanics feel very souls like, with bonfire equivalents and shortcuts being unlocked. Runs perfectly on my system on max settings Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 8-Core Ram: 16.0 GB Graphics: RTX 2080 Super Headset: PCVR Quest 2 with Airlink Motion Sickness Rating - HIGH The quick movements of combat and no available teleport movement would make this game tough for people who easily get motion sick. That said, I can't imagine a successful version of this combat with teleporting. Weapon Handling - GREAT Grimlord makes handling 2 handed weapons feel good, which isn't always guaranteed. Think Blade and Sorcery, but with gamified parrying, kinda like "Until You Fall", but without guided indicators. Enemy AI - Very Good Each enemy has a few well put together attack patterns, all are very learnable. They handle the physics interactions with the player fairly well, though when they get too close, they tend to clip into the player. I'm sure I'll add more as I progress through the game. I can only manage about an hour at a time before I want to rest eyes from the movement.
