out of all the games that I have had for vr I don't think any other one comes this close to understanding what playing in vr is like. they made systems and enemies that for what I am sure was a first real frontier VR game of it type. I have 2 accounts so my time looks small but I beat the game 3 times over each with a different build. The changes and systems they have made are super cool.
When I first played this game I thought it was trash because it had large areas and I thought you could do very little mechanically. Little did I know there was a skill tree where it unlocks a ton of different mechanics that make things much better. You can be a martial artist and block with your fist and do combos, you can build out multiple magic trees with different functionalities that synergize with one another and benefit from player skill(block and get magic back, hit all targets and get magic back), weak point visibility on block, weakpoint visibility with dagger or spear use, sweeping legs to do knockdowns, finishers etc. Primary and secondary stats, team builds are also viable. The world is pretty open and spread out but the enemies don't respawn unless you quit or die and you can town portal whenever you want to rest at a bonfire. One thing I didn't realize in my first time trying it, is that you can pick up items with down on the right joystick. I thought you had to put everything in quick slots or holsters which was super annoying. It makes a big difference mechanically. Anyway, I definitely recommend this now, especially with the DLC that adds more team options and more areas.
This game is absolutely amazing. Every VR game has "The Jank" but this games jank is minimal and totally easy to get use to. The world building is sick and the melee combat is unbeatable in VR. Ive played thousands of hours in VR and very few games have come to the level of immersion I want in VR. This game is hard at first and 100% takes understanding that the skill points, and talent points are crucial to your success in battle. Its a VR Dark Souls meets Diablo game. And its wonderful. I had stopped myself from buying it in the past because of the steep price for a VR game by a developing team I didnt know. But after playing it for an hour expecting to refund it (sorry) It ended up being one of the best experiences ive played in VR. I have since convinced all my buddies to pick it up and it is WICKED fun with people. Played a few random games and helped a few new people understand skills and magic. I look forward to dropping a ton of hours into it. 22 hours in a couple days. And I cant wait to kill more goblins and skeletons! 9.5/10 .5 point loss because you cant jump. I want to jump slash people. :)
