<3 CIVILIAN TIPS BELOW!!! <3 The single player story is extremely short, but it does a good job introducing you to Michael’s abilities and giving you an idea of how he plays. There are some fun moments where you get to experiment with different ways of hunting survivors, but I would’ve liked to see the civilian side explained more as well. -Turn on EVERY light when entering a building, including lamps. This helps prevent Michael from Shape Jumping inside. If the power goes out, use it as your cue to get outside and toward the nearest light. -Always carry a Knife or Ice Pick and keep one selected in your inventory. They can save you from Michael’s grab and make escaping much quicker. - If Michael is chasing you, break line of sight! Manage your stamina by stopping in light sources to recover it. Lock doors behind you when running through buildings, dodge if he gets close, and then RUN! - If a teammate dies, head to the CB Radio so they can come back as the Detective. If you die, play minigames until you return as Police. Both roles can help the Civilians still alive. - When you enter a house with a Resident/Special Target, tell them to hide if an exit isn't open. Having them follow you can make them an easy target. Once they're hidden, call the police and then loot. - Get Lynda to Level 10 ASAP. This lets your preferred Civilian start with a Pocket Knife, giving you a major advantage when Michael grabs you. - As Detective/Police, focus on rescuing your teammates and Residents. You can try to arrest Michael, but… good luck with that. Remember: The goal isn't just to escape. Rescue the town and your team, not just yourself. Extra Tips - You don't need an axe to break wood! Apparently, you can even break it with a Pocket Knife. - The map shows clouds where other Civilians are, so use that to help locate your teammates. -(Orange clouds: Special targets -Blue clouds: regular residents) - Playing as a Cop? There's a command wheel that lets you tell survivors what to do. - Escape Keys are used for the gates around the edges of the map and the tornado shelters. The gates also require fuses—you may get one randomly from a box or have to search for one. - Bolt Cutters can be used to cut the chains on the escape points!
This game is a PvE first experience, the more the community realizes that, the more people will be able to enjoy what the game has to offer. It is not meant to be similar to Dead By Daylight in gameplay. Illfonic is simulating the "Halloween" experience. Whether you're playing as Michael or a Civilian, you're meant to immerse yourself in either role respectively. Michael's role being to stalk and terrorize the ENTIRETY of Haddonfield, not just the 4 Civilian players in the match. And the Civilians role being to help the residents of Haddonfield to escape and potentially detaining Michael AFTERWARDS. But hey, what do I know? The game is fun! It is the closest thing we'll be getting to another Friday the 13th game for a long time, just with PvE elements so you don't have to spend 20 minutes spectating because the killer found you first. If the players end up figuring that out....
This game reminds me of Friday The 13th The Game, the mechanics exactly the same like F13, and Dr Loomis instead of Tommy Jarvis LOL. Story mode it's really fun to play, but the grind for the cosmetics is crazy! One thing i don't like about this game is the animation, especially the running animation. They should've bring back F13 The Game again instead of making this game.
I spent several hours in the game, following Michael's story and playing a couple of games as the survivors. During that time, I didn't feel disgusted with it. I want to return to it again, which is probably a good sign for me. Pros: In this game, you don't feel like a victim of NPCs. You can fight back and arrest the killer. You can even run over Michael on bike. This is a huge plus. I like that your goal is not only to save your own life but also to save other characters, sometimes sacrificing yourself. There are multiple escape options, whether by car or by calling the police. Escape by boat or helicopter is missing, but perhaps there are other options. Michael isn't content with mindlessly chasing characters; his goal is to stalk, pursue, and observe. Michael's gameplay is extremely strategic. Cons: I didn't like the optimization in some areas. There are some freezes in some locations. The physics, graphics, and animation are weak for 2026. Balance issues are obvious early on. Michael literally becomes invisible at times. Other players see him, but I don't. Bottom Line: I don't think the game is particularly raw. It has its flaws, but it's off to a pretty good start. Many have already funeral the game; online will die in 1-2 months. We'll see. Unfortunately, the game will obviously lack collaborations with other killers. It will need to attract players in other ways: with a variety of maps, objectives, items, and escape options. 6 hrs in and I’m pretty mixed on this game so far, the gameplay can be fun when everything is working, but the game definitely feels like it needed more time before release. the optimization isn’t great, animations and movement can feel pretty janky and there’s a lot of little bugs that start adding up the longer you play. Playing Michael is what I’ve enjoyed the most, u can’t just chase people around and expect to catch them, you have to stalk them and figure out where they’re going and what they’re doing. shape jump is pretty cool, catching someone off guard with it is really satisfying and feels just like the movies. the balance is kinda all over the place tho, survivors can fight back, stun you with different items, lock you out of houses, escape in multiple ways and call the cops on you, get a decent 4 stack that knows what they’re doing and Michael can get bullied pretty bad. The biggest problem for me is just how unfinished everything feels. Performance can be rough, the UI is clunky, animations need work and there’s issues with challenges and progression not working like they should. Then there’s stuff like the rng when looking for escape items which can either make a match interesting or just annoying depending on your luck, none of these things completely ruin the game but there’s enough of them that it’s hard not to notice. If you’re thinking about buying it right now just know you’re getting a game that still needs a lot of work. If bad performance, bugs, janky animations or broken progression bother you I’d probably wait for a few updates, especially if you’re mainly interested in single player. If you’re mostly here for multiplayer and don’t mind dealing with some balancing issues and rng there is a fun game here, it just isn’t where it needs to be yet.
