This game is so good. I think it's the perfect Japanese horror game with a very interesting story and spooky setting, reminding me of the Project Zero series with the old Japanese mansion from a wealthy family. The voice acting, visuals and sound design were excellent. The monster that kept chasing you, is pretty scary as she sometimes hid in dark corners without moving and the sound effects didn't always reveal her position. You had to play very slowly in general. There was no chance for me to rush this game because the monster had sharp ears and eyes. Mainly you had so solve some puzzles and find keys, explore the story while being stalked by a creature. If you lost your cool and ran away she would keep following you because of the footsteps so yeah, you had to take your time and plan every move. Also, the game has four endings and it was huge fun to see them all. The new game plus run was excellent and never got boring. I got all the achievements except for nightmare mode, it was too nerve wrecking with the monster being even faster and killing you with one hit. Other than that I got 12 hours of fun out of this game. When you are less of a coward, you can probably play it much faster though.

My second game from this studio after Cineris Somnia, and i loved both. Hollow Cocoon is super tense and unsettling with some creepy moments. It has great visuals and is very Fatal Frame-coded (Crimson Butterfly specifically) with a few funny Silent Hill-inspired moments. it was an awesome horror experience and would love to try more games from Nayuta Studio.

A short run 'n' hide game with an intriguing story set, primarily, in an old Japanese mansion. Despite the silkworm theme, it isn't like Kuon plot wise almost at all. The atmosphere, especially the ambient tracks, seem to be influenced by Fatal Frame. The creature looks a bit goofy, but the sounds it makes are creepy. Hollow Cocoon is surprisingly decently made, especially for a game created by two guys. Good voice acting and a cool ending song add to this impression. :edit: Hollow Cocoon even has a Silent Hill-style UFO joke ending which includes a silly credits sequence.

Good story and visuals, but the stalker mechanics are undercooked. I preferred to reload after being spotted rather than dealing with the chase.

As another review says, it doesn't overstay its welcome. Very well done. Multiple endings, difficulties, etc ~ Replay value :) There was also a Cineris Somnia easter egg; I had no clue these games had any relation in development at all... so that's cool.
