This game is fantastic. One of the best horror games i've played. Atmosphere and tension are amazing, and make the build up to the scares so good. The game is so smart it actually makes you scare yourself more often than not. A lot of the negative reviews are quite honestly from people that needed extra time on tests in school, that want their hands held and cant figure things out for themselves. This game respects the player's intelligence, and lets you freely explore and figure things out for yourself. Once you DO actually figure things out its incredibly satisfying and rewarding. One negative review literally said "the puzzles are confusing" and that they couldnt find answers with chatGPT and Gemini. We are literally living through the death of intellect. If you like horror, play Visage. It's worth every penny.
Can I recommend this game? No, but only because I have a conscience. It's terrifying and I dug into the story behind the house and the ghosts and actually lost sleep. it's such an incredible game and there is so much I would like to discover but I just can't play it or I might have a heart attack.
Atmosphere is killer, sound, light, locations... everything messes with your head, just like it should in this genre. Everything is designed to make you slowly lose your mind. But while I was creeping around this house, I completely lost the plot somewhere))) Honestly, most of it just flew right past me. So... gameplay-wise they overcomplicated things to the point of absurdity. A question kept popping up that killed the atmosphere every time: “what now / where do I go?”. If they'd simplified it just a bit, it would've been an ideal thriller. But as is, it's fine enough to ♥♥♥♥ through every pair of pants you have in the house a couple of times and wash the rest.
Visage came highly recommended to me, with a lot of people claiming it’s one of—if not the—scariest games out there. And I will say… it’s a great game. Was it the scariest game I’ve ever played? No, not for me personally. But I still genuinely enjoyed it. The atmosphere is where Visage really stands out. It’s incredibly creepy, with this constant tension that makes you hesitate before walking around every corner. You never feel fully comfortable, and the game does a great job of keeping you in that uneasy, on-edge state the entire time. The sound design plays a huge role in that. The way things move, shift, and happen around you keeps you guessing what’s coming next. It’s not always about what you see—it’s what you think might happen that really gets to you. I also really liked how the story is structured. You play as someone living in a house, uncovering the stories of the people who lived there before you. There are three different storylines you follow and investigate, and I thought that concept was really cool. Each one brings something different to the table, and overall, the stories themselves were interesting and well done. So with all of that… why didn’t this completely blow me away? For me, it mostly comes down to the pacing. There’s a lot of walking back and forth, a lot of searching for items, and at times it can feel a bit tedious. The game leans heavily into tension and uneasiness—which it does very well—but there aren’t a ton of jumpscares to break that up. And while that works for a lot of people, I found myself wishing for just a little bit more to keep things from feeling stretched in certain moments. Don’t get me wrong—the game is still fantastic. But I think the amount of hype around it set my expectations really high, and because of that, I walked away just slightly wanting more. For me, this sits more around a 9.5 rather than a perfect 10. I absolutely recommend Visage, especially if you love slow, psychological horror and heavy atmosphere. Just go in knowing it’s more about tension than constant scares—and you’ll probably have a great time with it. 👀
