I would highly recommend this game if you are a fan psychological horror, mystery, and story driven games. I like that you can have multiple endings depending on the choices you make in game. The game is only made better by adding Layers of Fear 2 to complete the whole story.
I honestly had an amazing time playing Layers of Fear. As someone who loves psychological horror games, this game completely hooked me from start to finish. It’s not just about jump scares — it’s the kind of horror that gets into your head and keeps you feeling uncomfortable the entire time in the best possible way. The atmosphere is absolutely insane. Every room feels creepy and unpredictable, and the way the environment changes around you is one of the coolest horror mechanics I’ve seen in a game. You’ll turn around and suddenly the whole hallway is different, paintings change, doors disappear, and it constantly makes you question what’s real. I caught myself walking slowly through every area because I genuinely didn’t know what terrifying thing was waiting for me next. The art style deserves huge praise too. The visuals are beautiful and disturbing at the same time. The dark mansion, the lighting, the creepy artwork, and all the little details make the game feel like you’re trapped inside a nightmare painting. Everything feels polished and immersive, especially if you play with headphones in a dark room. Gameplay-wise, I really liked how exploration-focused it was. The game lets the atmosphere and storytelling carry the horror instead of throwing nonstop cheap jump scares at you. There are still some scary moments that got me good, but the real strength of the game is the tension and psychological horror. It constantly builds this feeling of anxiety that never really goes away. The story was honestly one of my favorite parts. As you keep exploring and uncovering pieces of the past, the game slowly reveals this tragic and disturbing story about obsession, loss, and madness. By the end, I actually felt invested in what happened instead of just playing for scares. Overall, Layers of Fear is one of the most immersive horror games I’ve played in a long time. If you enjoy psychological horror, amazing atmosphere, creepy visuals, and story-driven games that mess with your mind, I highly recommend it. Definitely worth playing
okay. i'ma start off by saying... so far... WHAT THE ♥♥♥♥. I'M GENUINELY SCARED TO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥. this admittedly from what i'm seeing is a lot scarier than the 2016 version... for context: icymi this version is every single bit of layers of fear content remastered + some new bits and bobs... including some new stuff added to the stories... anyways... i highly recommend this game so far... i can't wait to see where it takes me next.
