This review is based on 100% completion and 10 hours of gameplay. Recommendation: Would I recommend this game? Absolutely. This is a surprisingly great little gem that I genuinely loved. From the story to the environmental storytelling, puzzles, and overall gameplay, everything comes together to create a really strong experience. The game does touch on some more adult themes, so I wouldn’t say it’s ideal for children, but those themes are handled extremely well. The story is superb. The tone, pacing, hidden nuances, and environmental storytelling are all engaging and constantly keep you wanting more. The game doesn’t do much hand-holding when it comes to explaining what’s going on, instead letting you piece things together through notes, pages, and details scattered throughout the world – which I really appreciated for this kind of game. I’d strongly recommend going in blind for the best experience. The narrative leans towards the darker and grittier side, both in story and atmosphere, which adds to the horror elements without overdoing it. If you’ve enjoyed games like SOMA or Amnesia , there’s a good chance you’ll enjoy this as well. It won’t be for everyone – it’s very narrative-driven – but if you’re looking for a strong story to sink about 10 hours into, this is an excellent choice. The sound design is excellent and complements the experience perfectly. The voice acting is very well done, and the singing featured on the vinyls is a really nice touch that adds to the overall mood. Visually, the game is also handled really well. The graphics are consistent throughout and, while they’re not highly detailed in the way something like the Dead Space remake is, the art style they’ve chosen works incredibly well. It has a cool, distinctive look that fits the atmosphere perfectly and ties everything together nicely. Gameplay-wise, I don’t really have any complaints. Everything feels smooth and works exactly how it should. The puzzles are well designed – not too easy, but not frustrating either – just challenging enough to keep you engaged. While the game follows a fairly linear structure, it still gives you the freedom to explore at your own pace most of the time. It feels guided, but never restrictive, which suits the experience really well. Overall, this is a fantastic experience that I’d highly recommend to most people. That said, I do think the base price is a bit steep for a roughly 10-hour game, so I’d suggest waiting for a good sale if you can. But if you find it at a decent price, I’d absolutely recommend picking it up. Also, Dave is an absolute legend. Achievement: When it comes to the achievements, there are quite a few missables, along with a number of collectables spread throughout the game. Some of these can’t be obtained until you’ve progressed far enough in the story, so if you’re going for 100%, I’d highly recommend following a guide. There’s an excellent video guide by Plasma SKX on YouTube that covers all collectables and achievements as they appear. Be aware that it does contain spoilers – while most major moments are skipped over, you may still see things ahead of time. If you want to avoid that, a written guide might be the better option. You can find the video guide [url= https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GlxYZKTKGw] Here. From what I’ve seen, the game is fairly lenient with collectables. Some players have mentioned being able to revisit areas to clean up missed items, though I can’t personally confirm this for every collectable since I followed a guide from the start. Aside from the collectables, the remaining achievements are fun and very easy to complete. I do wish there were a few more creative or playful achievements included, as that feels like a bit of a missed opportunity, but overall they are still enjoyable to work through. As a budding psychologist, I’d highly recommend every psychology student and enthusiast to experience this masterpiece. The way it integrates Jung’s concept of the collective unconscious is both creative and intellectually satisfying. I initially feared the story might lose its logical ground, but goddamn, it was not only coherent but beautifully profound. I’m eagerly waiting for Part 2. And if the developers ever weave in elements of spirituality especially non-duality, it could transcend being just a game and become a form of educational art that everyone should experience at least once.

In Sound Mind isn’t really a horror game so much as a spooky puzzle adventure with a bit of shooting thrown in. Ammo is everywhere, the enemies aren’t exactly nightmare fuel, and by the time you’ve got all your tools, you’re basically running the show. The real meat of the game is solving clever puzzles and poking around its weird little levels, which stay just the right length unless you’re hunting 100% completion. The story feels like Silent Hill and Psychonauts had a strange, moody baby — eerie but never nightmare-inducing, introspective without being too zany. The cast is likable, each patient’s story is relatable, and fighting their literal and metaphorical demons is satisfying. It’s not a mind-blower, but if you like the idea of a therapist battling his own issues while being heckled by a smug cosmic G-man, this Puzzle Spookum is worth your time.

A game about a therapist navigating the minds of his patients and his own. The levels, puzzles, and "weapons" are thematically tied to the patient's mind you're trying to unfold, the way the developers combined these elements to tell its story was a unique experience. Its main flaw might be the game's art style, it's not very visually appealing. Another thing is you have to redo an entire level if you want to pick up some remaining collectibles (so get them when you're there the first time). But despite that, the story's themes and puzzles are really well crafted, and worth a playthrough. It at least leaves you with some food for thought

In Sound Mind is a masterclass in psychological horror, blending immersive environments, expertly crafted jump scares, and a deeply evocative soundtrack into an unforgettable experience. Unlike generic horror games that rely on cheap thrills, this game builds tension with precision, making every eerie encounter feel organic and deeply unsettling. The world itself breathes with psychological unease, each location reflecting the fractured minds of Desmond Wales' patients. The shifting, surreal landscapes create a dreamlike horror where reality and delusion blur, keeping players on edge. The unpredictability of the game’s scares enhances its immersion, proving that terror is most effective when it preys on anticipation rather than predictability. But what truly sets In Sound Mind apart is its soundtrack, composed by The Living Tombstone. Each song is an extension of the game’s emotional depth, transforming trauma into hauntingly beautiful melodies. The music doesn’t just accompany the story—it embodies it, making moments of fear and sorrow hit even harder. Few horror games achieve this level of synergy between atmosphere, sound, and storytelling. In Sound Mind isn’t just terrifying—it’s profound, a rare example of horror as both an experience and an art form. Rating: 10/10
