Well, that was... what the hell? That ending was almost as rushed as Rage (2010). Overall, not a bad game had some performance issues, but nothing game breaking, just occasional stuttering. The gameplay was fun and fluid I enjoyed using the rifle and shotgun, though the melee weapon felt pretty useless. The atmosphere was the best part it felt like a mix of Dishonored’s colour scheme and Half Life’s structure, mechanics, and flow. The enemies weren’t very varied, but given the short length, it didn’t matter much. There wasn’t a lot of character development, but I’m looking forward to the upcoming sequel. Overall, it’s not a bad game, just feels like about 66% of a full experience. The ending wasn’t the worst just anticlimactic and rushed, especially since I was invested in the story. Worth checking out on sale.

I wish there was a neutral review option for this one. The game starts off really good. I expected a "we have Atomic Heart at home" type situation, but it was actually pretty solid! The main story got me hooked and seemed interesting, leaving me wanting to see more aaaaand then...nothing. The ending is a HUGE letdown. By the end you finally stock up on ammo and heals expecting a big final fight by the end, meeting the person we've been looking for the entire game hoping it explains what exactly happened aaaand... the ending chapter is just nothing. A walking sim section with a cutscene that explains nothing new, just repeats what you already know. It felt rushed and anticlimactic. Melee combat is a bit janky since you pretty much can't damage enemies without taking some damage yourself, but that's only relevant before you get a pistol, and that's just one section of the map. There's missed potential with collectibles or easter eggs. There are so many off-path areas you can get to, but they lead nowhere and just (sometimes) give you ammo you don't even need (on standard difficulty). Before the ending I’d rate it 7.5, after the ending it’s a 6.5. Still recommending it since I had a good time overall. The physics are nice (besides once getting launched into the air and taking fall damage a couple of times). Minor gripes: • Avoiding getting shot is almost impossible without prior knowledge of enemy locations, but even then, it's challenging • One section has endless bot spawns + mines that still damage you even if you instantly run from them and they make no sound and are barely visible, I didn't even understand what is it that damaged me a couple of times • There’s a "finish the game without taking damage" achievement... yeah, no thanks, with the above in mind • Robots have no weak spots to reward good aim or strategy. Normal bots take 6 pistol shots, rifle one-shots everything, SMG feels like a weaker pistol, melee is only for breaking planks/crates • Some objects make no sound when dropped • Some random map textures glow like interactables, tricking you into searching for nonexistent notes Main gripe is still the ending. I’ll be looking out for the sequel, hoping it clears up the story and character motives. What I loved: the physics and the amount of grabbable objects. It kind of reminded me of half life in this regard, sadly there's no much use for the physics in-game besides having some fun. Excluding maybe 1-2 instances.

4 bucks? You guys are complaining about this game that's only 4 bucks? Dude. You shoulda went and bought a latte. This game is beautiful. This game is fun. There's plenty of combat AND challenge, with it's expert mode. The enemies are nice, the guns work great, the city and levels look fine. Is it groundbreaking? No. It's been done before... but dude. You are complaining about a game that costs less than one Red Bull. And it's well enough done to enjoy. Glad I took the chance.

If you want a homage to Half Life 2's art style with some measure of Dishonored and Control thrown in, this is the game for you. The art style, arguably one of the game's main selling points, and associated soundtrack is great, the story is intriguing and the gameplay is good, if a bit janky here and there. On normal difficulty, the pacing is rather slow as the number of enemies per map is fairly low (exceept that one annoying section), so there is plenty of time to explore every corner to stock up on ammo (which is in fairly short supply). I was mainly drawn to Industria for the premise that it starts in the GDR. This is something very rarely seen in games and, as an East German, it was hard to not be curious. Some things the devs got right, some things they could have gotten better, but considering it's a small team and it's just a fraction of the overall game (and in an alternate universe no less), it's okay. 2.5/5 Honeckers from me. Hakavik, the other city is much more impressive anyway. Turn of the century (1900s) aesthetics with some steampunk elements thrown in, all basked in great ambient lighting. And speaking of steam, there is a replica of a (partially faired) class 03.10 steam engine that plays a major role in the story. Neat. The Library gets an A+ for eeriness and great aesthetics. However, one thing that pulled me out of the game a bit was the voice acting. Not the delivery and intonation as these were absolutely fine, but the lack of a German accent. The game starts in the GDR and Hakavik is supposed to be a German speaking city on the Baltic coast, so this would have been absolutely appropriate. A German dub would have worked even better. Maybe in Industria 2... Overall, for a debut, Industria is strong, really strong. There are some good ideas in the premise and story, and the art style is A+. It falls short on a few details, but that's complaining on a high level. Can't wait for the next one.
