It's got islands, it's got trains. 10/10 for accurate title. But seriously, the best thing about this game is how quickly it lets you create. There's a SUPER quick tutorial (like, 2 minutes, tops) and then the sandbox is utterly and completely yours. There's nothing to unlock, nothing you have to grind for or wait to access; everything is yours to do with as you please the very second the tutorial ends, and it's so refreshing. Multiple save slots too. Create an island, hit save and start a new one, rinse and repeat. This game just lets you create fun little islands with fun little train routes and fun little towns, and it's everything I wanted from a game called "Islands and Trains." Very easy recommend.

My 5 year old loves this game and is using it to learn keyboard and mouse and using the computer solo. However, it’s clear the game is very well suited for younger players but the interface has not been tested with then. Frequently it becomes a very frustrating experience. Often mouse buttons are overloaded with interactions, especially click to drag interactions on top of crucial functions. Selecting a train track can be very frustrating for a younger player who clicks and accidentally drags the menu instead of selecting the track he wanted. It happens repeatedly in a session that my 5yo clicks something he wants and doesn’t understand why it’s not working. The same happens with rotating pieces. Click to drag on middle mouse moves the world view but also rotates pieces, making it very frustrating when the pieces just won’t rotate because he clicks slightly too long or moves the mouse a small amount. The issue feels like the controls are halfway between touch and mouse conventions. I’d love if the developers would pull back on overloading some of the inputs and make it less frustrating for my 5yo because this is his favorite game to play.

A great cosy sandbox game. It's truly stunning, and super easy to get a hold of the mechanics. There are a few issues with item compatibility which limits builds but there is also a lot that seems to be getting added. I would like to see the build area size made considerably larger but performance wise the game doesn't seem to be optimal so this might bring a few issues. I would also like to have the camera zoom out to be much further so I can watch my marvellous creations with multiple trains running at the same time.

This is a fun, cute game. It is a great creative sandbox game. I would like to see the developer to add a workshop / asset editor and mod support. Let the creativity go even further.

I love the aesthetic of the game. It’s a solid 9/10, but I feel the world is a little lonely. Partly because the map is a bit small, and partly because we can build houses, farms, and mines, but no one uses them. I think that if people were implemented boarding the train or enjoying the environment, the game would be much better. I also think that adding optional missions would give the game a different kind of engagement compared to its main goal (relaxation), while providing more dynamism and replay value.
