Just Ignore Them is a small, unsettling indie horror adventure that leans heavily on atmosphere, implication, and psychological discomfort rather than overt scares or complex mechanics. Developed by Stranga Games and published by GrabTheGames, the game presents itself as a retro-styled point-and-click experience that explores childhood fear through a disturbing and often ambiguous lens. From the beginning, it establishes a tone rooted in vulnerability and unease by placing players in the role of a young boy navigating a home that no longer feels safe, grounding its horror in familiar spaces made threatening by unseen forces. The game’s visual presentation immediately signals its retro inspiration, using low-resolution pixel art that recalls classic adventure games. This aesthetic is intentionally rough and minimal, which can initially feel limiting, but it ultimately serves the horror well by leaving much to the imagination. Rooms are sparsely detailed, characters are small and fragile-looking, and monsters appear in ways that feel intrusive rather than spectacular. The simplicity of the visuals reinforces the feeling of being a child overwhelmed by things that are only partially understood, allowing fear to emerge from suggestion rather than graphic detail. Gameplay follows traditional point-and-click conventions, focusing on exploration, item interaction, and light puzzle-solving. Players move through rooms, examine objects, and make decisions that influence how events unfold. The puzzles are generally simple, but they occasionally rely on abstract logic that may feel unintuitive, particularly for players accustomed to more modern design sensibilities. These moments can briefly disrupt immersion, yet they also contribute to the dreamlike, off-kilter tone of the experience, where not everything follows rational rules. Narratively, Just Ignore Them is driven by ambiguity and discomfort. The story touches on themes of fear, neglect, and trauma without spelling everything out explicitly, often leaving players to interpret events for themselves. Choices made during the game affect character relationships and determine which of several endings is reached, giving the story a branching structure that rewards replay. While the writing can feel uneven and occasionally confusing, there are moments where it effectively captures the helplessness and anxiety of childhood, especially when the line between imagination and reality becomes increasingly blurred. Sound design plays a crucial role in sustaining the game’s atmosphere. Music is used sparingly, with long stretches of quiet punctuated by unsettling audio cues that heighten tension. Rather than relying on loud stings or constant background music, the game allows silence to do much of the work, making sudden sounds or visual changes feel more jarring. This restrained approach complements the minimalist visuals and reinforces the sense of isolation that defines much of the experience. The game’s short length works both for and against it. A single playthrough can be completed in a few hours, making it approachable and easy to revisit in pursuit of alternate endings. However, this brevity also means that certain narrative threads and ideas are not explored as deeply as they could be. Some plot elements feel underdeveloped, and players looking for a more cohesive or fully explained story may walk away with lingering questions that are never clearly answered. Reception to Just Ignore Them reflects its niche appeal. Many players appreciate its eerie tone, unsettling themes, and willingness to embrace discomfort, especially those who enjoy psychological horror and retro adventure games. Others find its rough presentation, opaque storytelling, and occasionally awkward puzzles off-putting. These mixed reactions underscore the fact that the game is less concerned with broad accessibility than with delivering a specific kind of experience. Ultimately, Just Ignore Them is a flawed but distinctive horror title that succeeds through mood and concept rather than polish. It is at its best when it allows players to sit with uncertainty, unease, and the quiet terror of being small in a world that no longer makes sense. For fans of short, story-driven horror games that favor atmosphere and interpretation over explicit explanation, it offers a memorable, if unsettling, journey into the darker corners of childhood fear. WARNING: if you play the remake version of the game, achievements will NOT unlock on Steam. For the reason mentioned above, I had to replay the original game (yes, I need my dopamine shots okay?). Would've loved exploring other routes instead but I'll stick with my bad ending lol. Otherwise very good game. Fell down the toilet and died. 10/10, would do it again.

🚬 For such a small game that at first seems simple due to the visual, it's quite impressive. A kind of B-Horror (with alright dialogues) that constantly try to create intrigue and succeeds in it. Some puzzles can be.. puzzling (like going to a location by clicking on the empty space behind the screen or the non-obvious placement of objects) and the environment constantly tries to confuse you, but otherwise it's a solid project. Considering all the content, many little things form a truly coherent picture, with interconnected events. The whole game, surprisingly, is controlled with a mouse. There is an original and a kind of remaster to choose from. The second has hints in dialogues and slightly different lines, but achievements don't work, so choose the original, as it also has more lively and emotional portraits.

The art-style is fairly charming and some of the puzzle design was OK but overall its not great with lots of frustrations. For example its possible to get soft locked about a minute into the game if you turn off the tv. Since the game tells you to ignore monsters then you would expect that turning off a tv that shows a face in the static would be the correct course of action but its not. If you turn off the tv then you can't continue the game any further and must restart from the beginning. There are also lots of typos in the dialog and even in the hover tips, like it says your key is for room 1 but when you hover over the door it says room 17. There is a safe code given at the start of the game and you will encounter a safe near the end of the game but the code has a digit wrong . Also personally I thought the story was a bit all over the place, I was really confused by the end of it. I'm going to give it a recommend just because despite the issues there is still some fun to be had and also because its really really cheap.
