Positives - Best time to buy is when it goes on sale for $5 or sail the seas since the preferred way to play online against other players is through Remote Play (The in-game's netcode is unstable with desyncs and crashes). - Highly recommend to download the Restitched mod which overhauls the gameplay and adds story characters, colors, fix and balance patches and helps improve performance. It can found on Nexus Mods and on IronFoxfire 's YouTube channel (He is the lead modder of Restitched). - Has a dedicated community to discuss about the game and find people to play with including occasional tournaments (you can find the Discord server in the Discord discovery, it's the same name as the game). Negatives - The Story Mode is very short and is just an alternation of the anime's story, if you only care about the story mode, your better off just watching a playthough of the game, this is game is mostly for people who are interested in a 3D fighting game since there isn't much to do besides that. - The game is unoptimized so you might have problems running the game with low-end specs or handhelds, having good RAM speed helps a lot, You can get some performance improvements by either installing Restitched mod (specifically the files in the material folder) or using dxvk which is a Vulkan-based translation layer for Direct3D.

God, talk about a sick game having the curse of people not learning it for more than ten minutes. It's an arena fighter, it's so scary and basic, ooooo! No, ffs it's not Storm or JJK. Visual work and presentation is way higher than you'd think for a side anime like KLK to get. Not downplaying KLK, but usually things that aren't hype or legacy shows get some half assed beat 'em up or whatever else. (Which this game admitably has as an iffy side mode, but.) I know the norm nowadays is to have characters look right out of the show, but this being downplayed only awhile after FighterZ did a very similar thing is a crime. Combat's weirdly like the 3d portion of Pokken? It works, but it feels very different. Combo structure is sort of similar to Pokken/Demon Slayer, but with the variety of someone like Rebirth of Souls' Unohana/Ichibe'e, a lot of moves have free flow into whatever other attack button you please. It's extremely enjoyable to know I can interupt a combo string to set up resets, or push an opponent far back to control neutral. You play Rock Paper Scissors. I don't mean the normal "grab block attack", I mean actual RPS. Check photo 4 on the steam page. It's mostly a gimmick thing, you gain whatever meter or do extra damage, but for some characters it's genuinely important you win and get a string going (or at least draw), as winning up to three times will grant move/combo buffs. It's a really fun way to lock away the broken stuff you can do with characters like Ragyo or Ryuko Base, it's a rarety of not having it handed to you by losing. Win three times and hit it one more time, you can just outright nuke the opponent. It's a serious power trip that you gotta earn. Except against AI, there's some weird cheese you gotta learn. Those bastards WILL read your hand. Online scene was dead on launch, but PLEASE download IronFoxfire's Restitched patch and find some peeps on a discord. Genuine efforts to do cool stuff with this game are out there. Plus, it lets you play as the story mode exclusive characters, even if Kiryuin Final and Ragyo Fullbody suck ass. Personal sweet spot for Ryuko Final where she's one of the only (modded) characters with the sole gameplan of hitting her RPS Instant Kill, and everything else she does has barely any damage/combo potential, but builds crazy meter. Base game wise, both Dual Wield unlocks for immense combo potential and skill ceilings, Mako for how nuts she is, Who the hell programs a character to start starving if you don't move around with her lol Characters in general feel very different, Gamagori could survive damage that work on literally anyone else, the base version of Ryuko/Kiryuin are NOT replaced by their Dual versions and feel strong, Dual Ryuko has Reverse Beat and that's reason enough to play her, etc. TLDR I rambled WAY too much but I played this a good chunk on PS, try it out. Base price is $20, it won't kill the budget not even counting sales. If you're not afraid of boobs, be afraid of how much effort you gotta go through to make this run on Deck. Less difficult, more time consuming. Again, download KLK IF Restitched by IronFoxfire.

As a fan of the show I had to buy this game instantly and it was worth it too when on sale. But even with the extra modes, the story mode and just fighting other players and computers. The game is lacking, however there's a solution! Go support and play Kill la Kill if Restitched if you want a more refined and supported version of the game that actually tries to balance and bring more life into this mostly dead game. It's easy to install and play this modded version of the game too. So what are you waiting for?!

Great game, works nice on the steam deck but you have to launch it on desktop mode and use Proton 10-1. Every other setting either doesn't launch or crashed at cut scenes.

Honestly wish this game did better when it first came out. There's a ton of cool things about it, but at the same time a lot to be desired. The roster is criminally short compared to all of the powered up characters we see in the actual anime/manga. I don't mind the simplicity of the combat that this arena fighter has, but the rock paper scissors mechanic is awful, especially against bots and the fact that if you don't managed to pull it off successfully 3 times, you don't get to even attempt to use the character's coolest finisher. The story and modes are all good and I enjoyed playing each sister perspective in the story. Maybe one day, Kill la Kill will get another chance at getting a really great and in-depth game, but this so far isn't too bad. Remake, remaster, or a mashup game like the jump force series, whatever the case may be, I just hope the roster doesn't consist of only main characters.
