So this game has a great setup with one terrible flaw. I really hope the dev's see this and consider it. The hardest moment in this game is the first couple expedition attempts. Every time you die/run out of fuel, you buy upgrades. These upgrades, combined with loot boxes, combined with prestiges are incredibly overpowered. In just a handful of attempts and upgrades the game has lost all challenge and becomes boring. With a little balancing this game could be something you could sink 20 to 40 hours into. Also the upgrades are arranged in a linear fashion, you can only buy things you afford, the next "tier" of upgrades are just significantly more money. So then you do a run or two and then you can afford all of those upgrades, then you see upgrades that are again significantly more money, a couple runs more and you afford all of those. Because of this, there are no "paths" to choose to follow, you cant "specialize". I realize all my comments sound negative, but honestly it is fun and has incredible potential. I bought it on sale and don't regret the purchase. I just wish for some balance that would have given more challenge and more hours of fun.
The dev clearly has an interesting relationship with the idea of prestiging, because it is very much 100% optional to do so in this game. And I am oddly appreciative of that fact. A lot of games like this make prestiging the only way to actually beat the game, without it being a complete nightmare slog or outright impossible. Here? Nah, if you want to beat the game without using the prestige option, you absolutely can. It will be harder to do so, but far from impossible. In fact, I'd almost recommend not prestiging. The game becomes significantly easier after just one or two. Rather high quality and really well designed for a game that isn't even $5. As for the game play loop itself? Rather addicting. Short though. I 100%ed this myself in an afternoon. ...and then I kept playing anyway. Seriously, that loop is solid. Also, I like that the pinko sounds mute when there's a lot of things falling. That could get annoying fast. Though a toggle would have been appreciated. Sometimes you want to hear the computer scream as the numbers go up at stupidly fast rates. That's the sound of victory, after all.
