All the games work in both launches(Legacy and not Legacy), you may have to tinker with the cycles and the like but I would suggest grabbing the latest updated dosbox or a fork of dosbox and running it that way so it has the optimal support. Windows 11, 2026. High Mid Tier PC. I will allow comments in case anyone has questions.

Recommended with conditions. First of all, ditch DOSBox and install ScummVM instead. You can even edit the .ini files for the launcher to direct to ScummVM. Emulate Roland sound. There. Done. It's about ten minutes of work, but it'll give you the best possible version of this collection. Great games for classic PC players.

The grand-daddy of adventure games. Kings Quest persists as a fun exploratoin into the early days of the adventure game genre, and contains a few actual classics in its publishing history (III, IV, and VI are excellent).

I wouldn't say I enjoyed playing the games since they felt a bit too fiddly (I find SCUMM or Monkey Island games much comfier) but I did enjoy going through each game with a walkthrough and appreciating the evolution of the series.

the series that changed my life forever, true story i was maybe 7 when i saw sir graham standing by that castle on a monitor in the front yard of a yard sale with my grandparents in 85 or 86 it was an IBM PCjr original edition KQ and up till then the only adventures i knew were Pitfall and berserk etc on my atari, i had to have it and i been a true gamer ever since, i will say it is a daventry sized travesty that there are no achievements for this!
