Disclaimer: 1. Look at the language distribution of the reviews, you'll notice one language is different than the other, and you'll quickly understand why when I tell you the developer team is Taiwanese. Then, check the negative reviews in other languages and scroll down, you'll see "those people" there, posting reviews not in the languages, trying to pollute the score. It's not the first time that specific population has done this, so take negative reviews with a grain of salt. 2. I played the game in original Traditional Chinese for the full experience. I have not tested the English MTL patch, so I cannot comment on the accuracy of its translation (but I'm up for joining a translation team if somebody wants to start one). 3. I have finished about half of endings including the 4 implemented heroines' true endings (Legend of Wulin), normal endings (Destruction of Tang Sect), and bad endings (losing to the final boss on both routes of each heroine). On top of that, I have collected about half of total endings and deaths. Review: Story-wise, it's an absolute masterpiece. The story has incredibly numerous branching paths, and your choices do matter. Your stat values and learned skills both determine dialogue you make and receive from other characters. There are plenty of tearjerking and comedic moments yet has a great balance on top of being one of the best wuxia stories in recent years. It has a few fantastical plot points bordering on xianxia, but overall, it's a very grounded wuxia setting. The combat gameplay does take a backseat in comparison. Although it could be confusing at first, the system isn't particularly deep, and gets exceedingly easy once you get the hang of it, plus a plethora of skills that trivialize fights. I don't think it's amazing, but it's not terrible either, a perfectly serviceable system that still provides a feeling of accomplishment. I know a lot of people mention how hard it is and how it's a "suffering simulator", but I personally believe that the first few runs of the game are best ended horribly. Even the bad endings are worth reading, and by knowing how badly things would go, will you work toward a better ending. Moreover, the game rewards you by giving you roguelite-like points for your new game+ which will help you move the needle more and more as it piles up. P.S. the soundtrack is also pretty amazing.
