Works on Reverb G2. This is a neutral recommendation. New Wizards improves almost every aspect of the original, but playing it in 2026 adds some unexpected drawbacks like downgraded visuals and existence of much better games in the same niche genre like Rumble and Elements Divided. The only thing TW-DT has over those titles is a proper single player campaign. Magical combat here is still fun though: the game does not shy away from challenging encounters that will require player to mix smooth and teleport locomotion with shield blocking to survive. Enemy AI uses movement tracking to calculate projectile trajectory, so it can not be beaten by simple circle strafing. The only time when the difficulty feels too much is during the end of The Rend level, when the game throws at you 2 ice elementals at the same time. Spellcasting is intuitive and satisfying, but it is spoiled a bit by a shoddy gesture recognition. I summoned fireball instead of a shield way too many times. TW1 had the same problem, it should not have been too hard to solve, since Rumble and ED do not suffer from it, while having a lot more spell combinations. Another weird issue is abundance of visual impairment effects: some elemental effects on player have a colorful vignette in addition to the red one for general hits, that takes almost half of the screen. Add to that bright flashes during shield blocks and failure to dodge enemy attacks leaves player half-blind for a short moment. Terrain hitboxes are imprecise, making shootouts near covers very awkward. Luckily they are rare and most spells have a small AoE splash damage, that still hits the enemy despite colliding with invisible environment borders. The game also lacks physical hands and head, but it is understandable for a 2020 release. Finally, it is hard not to address an elephant in the room: visuals were severely downgraded with Brotherhood update. Lighting was improved in several patches after that, but the textures are still quite low-res, leaving otherwise beautiful game looking mediocre.

Campaign is good but relatively short, very solid graphics, I wish there was more spell variation and it was a bit more diverse, it's pretty much wave after wave of travelling through the land and killing the same kind of enemies, with one major bossfight at the end. THE MULTIPLAYER IS ♥♥♥♥. The graphics are hugely reduced with no way to turn them up, and the spell graphics are unrefined and cheap looking. Gameplay and functionality is fine, but it's so frustrating the devs (respectfully) can't get off their arses and give us access to graphics that are already in the game. The multiplayer graphics on the screenshots of the store page is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. The campaign is accurate.

It's started off alittle rough but after some trial and error i can say i rather enjoy this VR game. I am not able to stand on my legs for long periods of time but sitting in a chair i could totally manage this game. The controls took a while and sometimes i feel like it takes me a couple of tries to get the correct spell to appear. But all in all its not bad. The only thing i could see being alittle better is the spawns. It seems like some spawns were meant for you to come in deal with some enemies and progress forward to more enemies. But when you run into a mob or group of them it seems it spawns all of them including across long distances and the mobs just seem to move to your location causing alotta build up if your not doing so hot on kills. But all in all its not bad i still got a long ways to go.
