Playing this game after the first game 'Life is Strange' makes the story so impactful and sad. Spoilers ahead! Getting to play as Chloe and her journey through meeting Rachel makes the first game so much sadder. Rachel truly was a bright light after dark days for Chloe, it feels like Rachel was a lifeline to her and I understand why Chloe was so desperate to find her and why Rachel's death just added so much more pain into her life. Chloe, by far, deals with the most suffering within the two games. I understand Chloe's character a lot more now, I remember thinking she could give David a chance and to be nicer to her mother during Life is Strange and while I still feel that way...Chloe was so young losing her dad and Max days apart from each other that I don't see any other way she could have gone besides ending her life. I would choose her self-destructive behavior over not having her around anymore. Chloe is the strongest character in these games. She kept going, probably living off of pure spite and anger. It was beautiful getting to know Rachel personally after hearing the characters talk so much about her in the original game, she really was full of light and pure energy. Rachel wasn't just a side character to give character development to Chloe, she was a person with her own story and pain. Finding out about her mother and how that story ends...I see why the two of them bonded so quickly. The farewell episode made me cry. I would've burned the whole town if my dad died the same day I find out my best friend was moving away, I can't imagine how painful that must've been for Chloe. I also gained some anger myself, I can't believe Max didn't keep in touch after everything Chloe went through, I'm mad at Chloe's mom for how she handled the David situation and selling the ring, I'm mad at Rachel because she had a relationship with Frank when her and Chloe clearly had a relationship as well. I get Chloe's character, I would be mad at the world too. Brilliant game, I'm so involved in this world now and the creators know how to make me emotionally involved to the point of crying.
before the storm is such a beautiful prequel and i genuinely don’t think i could’ve loved it more. i was emotional pretty much the entire way through and somehow ended up getting even more attached to chloe than i already was. getting to see everything between her and rachel before the first game was honestly rlly special, but at the same time it made every happy moment hurt even more bc you already know what’s waiting for them. i absolutely loved learning more abt all the characters and seeing a different side to them, especially chloe. she’s such a misunderstood character and this game just made me appreciate her so much more. the story is amazing, the voice acting is sooo good, the soundtrack is incredible and the atmosphere is just perfect. everything works so well together and i genuinely didn’t want it to end. i rlly wish it had been a lil longer bc i would’ve happily played more. and don’t even get me started on the post credit scene and the farewell episode…i’m convinced the life is strange developers wake up every morning and choose violence T_T if you’ve played the first game then you genuinely need to play this too. just be prepared for your heart to get absolutely stomped on. 10/10, would willingly cry over this game again</3
10/10 Прекрасный приквел о Хлое и Рэйчел. Теперь мы играем за Хлою, которая не имеет волшебных способностей, но при этом имеет её подобие в виде, я б сказал, "доказать и выиграть в конфликте". Самое тяжелое - играть и наслаждаться отношениями между Хлоей и Рэйчел, а также знать какую судьбу ждет Рэйчел… И опять же музыкальное сопровождение является шикарнейшим.
I love this game, I would definitely recommend it, since it's a great game for the franchise and the understanding of the story. I'm also a bit biased, since I love the “Life is Strange” Franchise. It’s also fun to try something else, without the same mechanic Max had. And that we kinda see Chloe’s point of view. We also get a lot closer to Rachel and a more understanding of how her and Chloe's relationship was. It still has some of those favourite qualities from “Life Is Strange” with how your decisions impact the story. It might be a bit cringey in some moments, but some moments are just so beautiful. You experience so many emotions like grief, sadness, happyness, excitement and so much more. I think if you are into the “Life Is Strange” franchise, I recommend you play this at least once!
