Lunar: Silver Star was the whole reason I bought the Sega CD attachment for my Genesis. It sure wasn't for Sewer Shark...Anyway... It's a very clean port, except for exiting out of the game on my Steam Deck. Having to press two buttons to exit the game to the main menu, then same two buttons to get to an old DOS warning box that has to be tapped to exit the game fully is a bit of an annoyance. The voice acting is perfectly fine. Since we're getting both games the price point is reasonable, especially since you don't have to pay extra to get the full game chopped up in a bunch of DLC's or such. One price, complete game. That's the way we did things back then. Sure, it's a generic RPG wrapped within a cast of very endearing characters, wonderful music and songs, but that's what made the Lunar series so special and gave it its cult following. Does this old soul a happy dance seeing so many of the old classics being brought to life for newer generations. I grew up on Bard's Tale, gold box AD&D games, Wizardry and such. And now I get to play Lunar again as well. What's old is new again, and I couldn't be happier about it.

These are some of the few games that I can happily revisit every few years and play through entirely without getting bored. 27 years after firing up Silver Star Story for the first time and I still tear up during the opening song. (Just missing that one-two punch of the PS1 starting sounds/screens lol) Don't even get me started with the Boat Song... Just made it there actually, 10/10 did cry. So far I'm loving the new voice cast, they've breathed new life into an old game and it's honestly refreshing. (Nall not being pitch-shifted is a bit jarring to me though, but I get it.) I'm excited to keep playing. And I'm excited for a new generation of gamers (and old alike) to experience these absolute gems for the first time. My heart is happy <3

Fan of the original, here. And no, I don't mean Silver Star Story on the PS1. I loved that, too. I mean the original Sega CD back in 1993 (Yes, I am olde) I see the few negative reviews on here, and I'm going to have to politely disagree with the views stated in them. Firstly, I noticed complaints about the voice of Nall. Look, back when I played the original, I mistook Nall for a girl for the longest time until later in the game. The new voice sounds a bit more masculine while still being high pitched. It is going to be more than fine for all but the most stubborn of Lunar purists and, let's face it, nothing will ever change their minds anyway so this review is for the more open-minded of individuals who realise that if you want to play the original... you can just go play the original. For everyone else, this has been great so far. Is this the new 100k + Overwhelmingly Positive review game on Steam? Not likely. But it's a classic game (two of them, actually) that I'm happy to see as being available for a new generation, while still satisfying the nostalgia itch of an older gamer such as myself. Highly recommended.

I played this in 2007 and have reminisced about this game ever since. It's truly one of my favorite games of ALL TIME. This remaster does an amazing job remastering the PS1 version, the one that I love and cherish, almost flawlessly. The quality of life improvements are nice and having Classic/Remastered mode that you can swap between (though not seamlessly like in Spyro or Crash's remasters) is a nice touch. The only issue I have with this remaster is the voices. I was really hoping at least the Classic version used the original PS1 voices. I was hoping to listen to John Truitt's Ghaleon one more time because he truly was perfect for the role. It's like eating a food you loved from your childhood but just one small thing is off, but sometimes that's all it takes to turn you away from finishing the meal. It's not even JUST that I wanted the old voices to stay true to the version they're remastering, but as someone who loves voice acting, I'm not a fan of the voice acting redub at all. There doesn't seem to be near as much soul in the voices. The more I think about it the more I'm let down by the voice thing. I urge everyone who loves old-school RPGs like Chrono Trigger or the older Final Fantasy games to play this game. It's truly one of the greats and now accessible to everyone. Don't let the price deter you. $60 is a lot better than the combined $450 my local game shop wants for the PS1 versions of Silver Star Story: Complete and Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete.

It plays on steam deck, which is more than i can say about Grandia. Gungho should fix that...
