Mafia: The Old Country is an incredible ride that does almost everything right, even if it trips up right at the very end. Mind-Blowing Visuals and World: The graphics look unbelievable. The entire world feels real, deeply detailed, and well put together from start to finish. Smooth Performance: Even though it runs on Unreal Engine 5, the game is super well-optimized. Throughout my entire playthrough, I did not run into any lag, frame drops, or annoying stuttering at all. Environmental Combat: The combat feels very smooth, the fights let you use everyday objects around you—like smashing bottles or using whatever is nearby to survive. Great Characters and Isabella: The character development is top-notch across the board. The female character, Isabella, is absolutely stunning, emotional, and very attractive, but she simply does not get enough screen time. Her role feels way too short, and the game definitely needed a lot more scenes with her. A Rushed, Disappointing Ending: The conclusion feels very sudden, as if the team ran out of time or ideas and just wanted to wrap it up. It feels like they forced a sad ending simply because it is a Mafia Game, which ends up feeling cheap and silly compared to the great setup. Despite the weak ending, the rest of the package is pure quality. Right behind Mafia: Definitive Edition, this easily takes the spot as my second-favorite game in the whole series.
I don't want to say this game is unworthy of your time, as it's still good enough for a few chill evenings if you are tired of some open-world RPGs. Also, you should understand that this game is very cheap: the animations, story, etc. Unreal Engine still gives a blurry image even on Ultra settings. Yes, this Mafia game is the worst in the entire series. Even worse than Mafia 3. Sorry, Hangar 13, you can do much better for sure!
fun but short! not really great value for money in that regard gunplay and combat is... okayish free drive is a brilliant idea but not nearly enough content in it to justify sitting down to play it for very long before getting bored. Could do with a bit more time in the oven. Buy on sale for a decent story adventure
I'd say the game was definitely a success. However, I wasn't a fan of how the game was so limited that I couldn't really explore or try out new cars, horses, or clothing, and the combat system was odd. Using a pump-action shotgun had a much stronger advantage than any other pistol or revolver at long range. The knife combat was especially great. Personally, I didn't really like the ending, no spoilers, but I found it a bit disappointing, and the events leading up to it seemed completely implausible.
