Pros: + Humor + Great vibes to the entire series + Has good length and do not drag things out + Despite it's age, still plays great + Better controls than the first one + Improvement over first one in almost every way Cons: - Puzzles do not use logic, but humor and are chaotic - Weird ending Monkey Island(tm) 2 is improvement over first one. The visuals, even the classic ones, are better. The new visuals seems to be drawings of old concept art, so it's true to source. Pacing is overall better. Writing and controls are improved. Puzzles are the same illogical approach as all the other Monkey Island(tm) games. You have to look at puzzle solving from the perspective of humor not logic. Ending is a bit weird. I think Ending was better in the first one, but rest of the game is better here. Another legendary adventure game that is a must play. And it still works very well even if you experience it for the first time only now.

One of the best adventure games of all time. It's crazy to think this game was originally released in 1991, there's not a lot of games from that era that aged as good as this one. The plot continues the adventures of pirate Guybrush Threepwood, this time trying to find the legendary lost treasure of Big Whoop. As Secret of MI, this game is divided into 4 parts, with one being about half the game. It follows the story with the main characters from the prequel making a return here. The lore and setting is greatly expanded, so much that every location you visit is a new one. Future Monkey Island games went a different way, 4th wallbreaking comedy and goofyness. Not so much in this entry. There's still tons of jokes and references everywhere, but Lechuck is a huge menace here. He is the zombie pirate Lechuck, scary and vengeful. It works perfectly in colorful world. Puzzles are hard from the beginning. You are expected to use items in very unorthodox ways, making lateral thinking conclusions and have a very good grasp of unsolved puzzles left behind. It's not just the classical inventory puzzles of just combining items with scenery hotspots. There's also guessing the rules of a secret system using fingers, modifying items to satisfy a room condition to proceed, etc. Most of them are brilliant, however the game suffers for having way too many items and not being removed from the inventory. Regarding the remaster, it features the typical developer commentary, fun but not as detailed as I would have expected. Visuals are high res again but unfortunately not as good as the lovely pixel art. For the first time, the game is fully voiced, again keeping all the main voice actors. The best way to enjoy this experience is by keeping the original graphics and the new voices. On the negatives, there's the very infamous ending that took 3 decades for the resolution, not in the sequel Curse of MI, not in Escape from MI, not in the episodes of Tales of MI, but in the 6th game in the saga. There's also the lack of insult swordfighting, at that time it wasn't part of the dna of the franchise. Worst of all, they removed the iconic dancing monkey intro and the easy mode selection. It was originally a mode to mock reviewers at the time who would get stuck on any puzzle, but anyways, it was part of the game. Another weird change they made was that one late character is now a man instead of a woman, even weirder, they kept both characters with their own voicelines if you switch versions. Still, this is the definitive way to play it these days. This game is not just an adventure entry in the saga, is one of the defining moments of gaming adventure.

Monkey Island 2 is one of the best adventure games of all time. The remastered edition graphics are so much better than the original. It's hard to play along to 1991 graphics these days. A must play and own for all pirates!

The ending still haunts me when I can't fall asleep soon enough sometimes. Other than that it's one of the best point'n'click games I ever played. Recommended.

Good remake of a good game, some of the animations do feel really dated, I'm not a huge fan of the character models -I honestly preferred the earlier designs from the concept art-, and the proportions are really off in some scenes. However, the voice acting is great, the music is great, it's easy to learn the controls, I like how you can essentially play the classic version of the game with the push of a button, I like how the classic version can have the voice acting of the Special Edition. It's definitely a good time, and you should buy it.
