Nobody can kill you if you are dead inside! Mullet Madjack is a fast-paced FPS in which a lot is happening, but you must be quick to avoid dying, as you only have ten seconds to live. The game gives off that retro anime-like feel from the 90s, when you knew it was a niche, and only a few people knew about it. I loved how well everything is animated and the one-liners that are thrown at you are full of charisma. Pros and Cons Pros [*]Really fun and action-packed 90’s anime-like story [*]Fantastic voice acting [*]Fun, fast-paced gameplay where you only have ten seconds to live [*]Power-ups that help spice up gameplay [*]Nice weapon variety to help take out enemies [*]Catchy anime like soundtrack [*]Beautiful 90’s like retro anime graphics Cons [*]Some of the upgrades you get aren’t that helpful [*]Only a few weapons are worth using Story In the year 2090, man and the internet have merged into one being and it needs Dopamine every ten seconds, or it will die. AI has taken over and they have started to become Robillionaires , while humanity is called Retro-humans , these people need dopamine to remain alive. Peace Corps is seeking moderators, human mercenaries tasked to help take out these Robillinaries . However, the highest-grossing one, Mr. Bullet has kidnapped the princess , and her two billion followers are left in shock, Jack Banhammer is hired to take Mr. Bullet out and save the princess . Mullet Madjack’s story is action-packed and full of that 90s anime charm. It’s full of one-liners that are amusing to hear. The game isn’t story-heavy, but what is given to us is pretty good, the characters, with only five in total, are all fun and have something that makes them stand out from each other. Overall, I liked the story for the game, and it feels very anime-like, I also really loved how the English voice acting was done. All the voices sounded perfect, and they fit with their characters very well. I also found the story a little funny, as the characters' personalities are full of charm. Gameplay In Mullet Madjack , you must reach the end of each floor to move on to the next floor, however, you need to make sure your dopamine is kept in check. You only have ten seconds to live before you die, so you may be wondering, how do I make sure I keep myself alive? Well, there are two ways. The first one is getting kills, depending on how you get that kill, will determine how many seconds you get. Head shots give you three, while normal kills give you two. You can also find vending machines that give you soda, and they will refill your timer back to ten. Also, enemies will still attack you and if you get hit, you will lose some time on your dopamine . There are boss fights at the end of each floor and instead of a ten second timer, you are given a health meter instead. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3446064764 The gameplay is fast-paced and full of action, you can find melee weapons scattered throughout the stages, with these you can get melee kills that insta kill most enemies. They also refill your timer to max, so I recommend you do these in a pinch or to take out an enemy you hate dealing with. At the end of each stage, you are given a choice between a select power up, these power ups will only last until you move on to the next floor. Each floor has ten stages to it, where you will shoot enemies to keep your timer up. You are giving the choice of three power-ups to choose from, and you can only choose one. There are also permanent upgrades you can get after beating a boss. These upgrades can also be upgraded twice, you can get your weapons to be more powerful or have more power-up options. There are a few different weapons for you to get your hands on that can spice up the gameplay in a few ways. There is an SMG, shotgun, katana, and a few others, you can use in the levels, these weapons can also be upgraded and can go up to level 3. I should note that it’s best to not rush the levels, take your time while going through them. Kills are important, as you need them to stay alive, so just kill any enemy you see on the screen. You can only carry one weapon with you at a time, and once you move onto the next stage, you will lose that weapon. There is a permanent upgrade that will let you keep one of your power ups or weapons after beating a level. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3446066507 However, as much as I like the power-ups and the weapons that the game gives you, they both lead onto two issues I had. There are power-ups that I personally never found useful, now I was going for mostly head shots, which, I assume the game wants you to do. But some power-ups can make your bullets pierce through enemies so you can kill more of them. Which is fine, but there aren’t a whole lot of situations where enemies will be beside each other like that. There are some joke power ups, like giving Jack the ability to say more one-liners, which I would rather have than armor piercing. Which is something I thought I would never say but here we are. That also leads onto some of the guns that you can use, there are a few that I would rather just straight up avoid using. The shotgun is my least favorite weapon to use because enemies die in one to three shots anyway. The railgun I didn’t like because it felt odd to use, and the katana I just avoided using after using it once. My favorite weapon in the game is the one you start with, the pistol, and it’s the best weapon in the game at level three, as you get infinite ammo. Graphics and Performance The graphics for the game are fantastic, the game uses this vaporware kind of art style, and if you are someone who loves that, then I think Mullet Madjack will satisfy that love for the style. I tested the game on an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB, AMD Ryzen 5 1500X Quad-Core Processor 3.50, and 16 GB of RAM, I experienced no issues while playing. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3446067018 Final Verdict Mullet Madjack is a very fun FPS that I enjoyed from start to finish. The idea for its gameplay is just outright fun, and for those that want an FPS with a unique twist. However, I would wait for a sale, as there is only about three hours of content in the game. There are a few other difficulty options and some other game modes, but to me, that’s not worth 25 CDN. Other than that, I do personally think Mullet Madjack is worth it. As it’s an experience worth remembering, for any kind of anime fan. Literally one of the best FPS games of all-time. You know how you watch speed runners and you think 'How the F*CK do they do that? That is INSANE!" That is how YOU will feel YOU are playing this game. It isn't a hard game, or even a long game, but it is damned near perfection. I look forward to anything Hammer95 makes from now on. An absolute banger.

I really didn’t like this game at first. It’s on a timer, so you have to kill things to refill the clock. They give you ten seconds, which is quite punishing. I was constantly failing - all the firefights are in closed spaces, so I either got shot to pieces or ran out of time. Then I discovered that the devs included a large array of gameplay options, both increasing the time limit or even turning it off. Amazing. That way, I played the whole game through in a couple of sittings (about 7 hours), and once I had the hang of it, changed back to the timer and found I could more or less hack it. The game has a fantastic art style, superb silly 90s action film humor, excellent gun feel (SMG and Shotgun are my faves) and an overall compelling and satisfying gameplay loop. Highly recommended, and shout out to the designers for including so many difficulty options. I ended up loving the game when I could concentrate on the mechanics, style and flow, and not just be dealing with the timer. More power to you.

Mullet Mad Jack — Return to the Past The game Mullet Mad Jack, developed by HAMMER95 and released in 2024 , is a classic platformer with RPG elements that takes us back to the era of retro games. The visual and sound styles of the game create an atmosphere of the 90s, which makes it especially attractive to fans of this period. Gameplay The game offers classic platformer gameplay where the player controls a character named Jack. Jack must go through many levels, collecting bonuses and items that will help him in passing. Various obstacles such as pits, traps and enemies await the player at each level. One of the features of the game is the ability to improve the character, which adds depth and a strategic element to the gameplay. Graphics and sound The graphics of the game are made in the style of retro platformers with bright colors, pixel graphics and simple but detailed animations. This gives the game a special charm and nostalgic mood. The soundtrack is also made in retro style, using sounds and music typical of that time. The musical accompaniment of the game is energetic and dynamic, which goes well with the gameplay. The sounds of the effects, such as Jack's steps, hitting enemies and interacting with objects, are made with high quality and add realism to the game. Conclusion Overall, Mullet Mad Jack is an exciting platformer game. It offers unique gameplay with RPG elements and pleasant retro graphics and sound. However, as in any game, there are drawbacks, such as the lack of variety of levels and enemies. Some players may find the game too simple or monotonous. However, if you love platformers and are looking for something that will take you back to the past, then Mullet Mad Jack may be a great choice.
